It pains me to post this, because I'm not a big fan of this current Celtics team, and I'm a huge fan of the Pistons. But this dunk by Rajon Rondo was absolutely monstrous, and as a fan of all things NBA, I feel it needs to be seen by as many people as possible.
In case you don't have the League Pass and missed this one because ESPN would rather televise a college basketball game instead, here's a brief recap. The Pistons' flight to Boston was delayed by weather, so they didn't get to their hotel until after 4AM local time. The fatigue showed at the outset, as the Celtics jumped out to a 17-3 lead to start the game. But as you'd expect, the Pistons battled back again and again, eventually tying it up early in the fourth.
It was all Celtics from there though. KG led the team offensively with 31, and the Celtics out-rebounded the Pistons by 12, thanks in no small part to 20 boards from Kendrick Perkins . Boston simply wanted this one more than Detroit did from the opening tip. The only one who played extremely well for the Pistons was 'Sheed, but even he was only 10-24 from the field, and Detroit as a team shot a woeful 36%.
The bright side for the Pistons is that despite trailing by 14 early and shooting so poorly, they still had the game tied with nine minutes or so left in the fourth. The Celtics though can feel a little bit better tonight, knowing they've taken two of three from the Pistons this season and will likely have home court advantage when (not if) these teams meet again in the playoffs. Which, the way these teams go at each other, is something that every basketball fan should be gleefully looking forward to.

it would have been nice to see the pistons win but at least now they don't have to lose their next two games intentionally to stay in the 2 seed. Let the C's and LeBron's wear each other out in the 2nd round of the playoffs, and Detroit can wait in the eastern conference finals for whomever survives that series.

Rondo deserves the limelight for his supreme play this season. He's stepped it up in big games and provided a strong defensive presence in the backcourt all season long. Cassell might be coming in, but Rondo will still need to run the show the way he's been doing it.

The guy who really won it for the Celtics was their center, Perkins, with 20 rebounds. His rebounding kept Boston scoring on 2nd chances and getting turnovers from Piston misses.

was that really "monster"? zero middle presence and late help is not a monster dunk.

I am a C's fan since they were bad in the 70's...they are relevent again, and it's exciting. But, to be honest, the Pistons are better in a long series.
