Safety Will Demps Loves the Texans and the Ladies, Not Necessarily in That Order
Houston's Fox26 is reporting that safety Will Demps has re-signed with the Houston Texans for a two year deal. He was scheduled to meet with the Redskins but ended up making no trips. He was named as a 2008 Pro Bowl alternate.
Matt at the Texans blog DGDB&D should be happy about this signing as he has done a series of satiric entries about Demps' way with the ladies. (serious profanity at that link). As a Texans fan, Matt also probably cares about Demps keeping some continuity for a young secondary, along with his desire to keep writing fiction about Will Demps' love life.
If you want to see the real Demps' serious pickup skills, check out the short video above.

Wow, I've not seen that video. Classy. At least he's in the open about it, because I'm sure 95% of the league does the same thing.
Then again, on his website he talks about how he doesn't do the groupie thing. Riiiiight.

Hey Steph,
What do you think about the possibility of moving Demps to SS if we do, in fact, sign Chris Crocker or draft a starting FS like Kenny Phillips OR, Dunta comes back, but doesn't have the wheels needed for a CB, and we have to move him to FS? I always looked at Demps as more of a SS thumper, with very decent cover skills (light years better than CC Brown anyway), so would that position suit him better? Has he ever played SS?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!

Lots of questions. The thing with Demps is that he isn't particularly fast and he isn't particularly big. He's play mostly free safety/nickle in the NFL and played some strong safety in college. He has more experience than the other players in the secondary and has played in better secondaries, so he has that benefit going for him.
At this point, I'm not too concerned where people play in the secondary. I just want to throw as many bodies as we can obtain in the secondary and hope and pray that they can find the right mix for what they want to do.
I do not believe that Dunta Robinson, with the injuries he has will be back in any capacity next season. Then his free agent year comes after that.
It's a messed up situation. The Texans claim that they don't really see their safeties as free and strong, but I think they just said that because they were just sticking bodies whereever they would stick when they kept having injuries.
Not sure my thoughts did anything but muddy stuff up but I guess the short version is that right now there is so much up in the air, it's hard to say where anyone would play.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment,
Steph

This is why you don't need women or rather this type of woman involved in sports. Just stick with the young and restless babe, because who Demps is doin' doesn't interest me. It's not FOOTBALL!!!!

Greg,
What would you have her write about in the off-season? I'm sure she'd rather have your suggestions than your criticism.
Besides, you obviously haven't read too much of Steph's previous work if you think she's under-qualified. Now, isn't it time for you to get back to your Massengil convention?
