Bucknell Upsets Navy in Patriot League Tournament on 40-Footer in Triple OT
The Patriot League got off to a wild start on Wednesday night. Top-seed American and Colgate each won their games by two and Army beat Lehigh by three in overtime but nothing compared to Navy and Bucknell in Annapolis. The Midshipmen led by 17 in the second half before the Bison came roaring back to tie the game with seconds to play.
They took their first lead in overtime but the sides battled back and forth until Navy's T.J. Topercer tipped in a bucket with two seconds to play in the third extra session. John Griffin of Bucknell took the inbounds, raced upcourt, let one fly and, well, welcome to March Madness 2008. Navy, the second seed, is out and recent power Bucknell moves forward to play Colgate.
