Here's video of Brett Favre breaking into tears as he announces his retirement as quarterback of the Green Bay Packers:
Favre said, "I promised I wouldn't get emotional" and then, after a long pause, "It's never easy. You know, it's funny, I watched hundreds of players retire, and you wonder what that would be like. You think you're prepared."
He then took about 20 seconds to regain his composure before continuing, by saying what he said to his wife prior to the press conference: "I was telling Deanna on the way over here, God has blessed me with so many great things, abilities, wonderful family, and as I was flying up here today I thought about so many things and I wanted to say so many things that I feel like I needed to say. But He gave me an opportunity to use my abilities and I seized that opportunity. I thank Him for that."
He then said, "I'd like to thank the Packers for giving me the opportunity as well." And then he broke into tears again as he said, "I hope that every penny ... I hope that every penny that they've spent on me, they know that's money well spent. It was never about the money, the fame, the records. I hear people talk about 'Your accomplishments' and things that -- it was never my accomplishments, it was our accomplishments."

3. Favre is getting pretty good at shedding tears. Perhaps he should consider joining Hillary's campaign staff now that he is retired. Hopefully we have seen the last of Brett's tears and multiple retirement speeches for a while. But, don't count on no more tears from Hillary.

4. I do not know if we will ever see a pro athlete of Brett Favre's caliber again. The only athlete in the world that realized he was able to play a game and get paid millions of dollars to do it. No crying about what he should have or deserved...no missing games because he had a hang nail on his pinky toe...no blaming teamates or pointing fingers...just a man that loved the game he played and wasn't afraid to show it.
I thank him for the memories, examples of sportsmanship, accountability, drive, and show of character he displayed over his career and wish he and his wife the best.

9. Brett you've been such a great insparation. Watching you thru all the years and under the all pressure you've been a total success as QB for the Pack. I dont think absolutly any of these people with their degrading comments step onto the field or in whatever they do in life and preform to your level and with the class that you've shown. I'm one that WILL stand up and say that your the greatest. I'm a packer fan and watch all the games and truly hope some of what you've shown in your spirt rubs off on my own son. Sometimes I wonder what the worlds coming to with all the nasty people. You've set such a great example of what can be accomplished. I'll really miss watching you play. You and your family certinly desirve everyones best wishes for the furture for all the excitment and spirt you've given. Many Thanks and Best Wishes 4.

10. How can you not respect someone like Brett Favre?
The way he played the game is what made him one of the greatest NFL players ever. Man will we miss him.

11. Although not a Packer fan, I sincerely appreciate the tenacity, grit, courage, and skill that Brett Favre demonstrated every time he stepped onto the professional football field. Brett is certainly a real life hero to millions not only on the field, but off the field. He is a human being and therefore susceptible to human frailties; however, he demonstrated how to overcome life’s difficult challenges. Brett is a younger man than I, but I would want him to know that he has inspired me with his play, but mostly with the way in which he has pressed forward with his life. Number 4 will be greatly missed on Sundays. My very best to Brett and his family, and thank you Brett for your great football play and showing us there is still loyalty and sincerity in sports.

13. Brett Favre is a true inspiration to anyone in the NFL as well as collegians who aspire to play football. His dedication and loyalty has transpired over to the Packer team throughout the years which is why I have been a Packer fan all my life and grew up in Pennsylvania. As a Marine veteran there is only one rule and that is to be a part of a team as one. Brett has done that throught his whole career as a Packer. He is now No. 1 in both a QB and a person. Happy retirement Brett and enjoy life with your family. Thanks for all the exciting times. GO PACK GO and Semper FI !!!!!

14. The O'Reilly Factor. Laura Ingram's remarks. If you didn't see Laura Ingram's remarks yesterday on the O'Reilly Factor about Brett Favre, I suggest you do. And if you feel like I do about her remarks, go to billoreilly.com and nominate her as a "pinhead". It sounds like many would agree with her comments but I am one that does not; I believe there are many of us who are enraged by the remarks about Brett crying during his retirement press conference. Check it out and if you agree with me nominate Laura as a "Pinhead".
