When you're the president of a university that has controversially lost the best coach in its history, then hired a very nice man who won one game and saw that decision publicly lambasted by big-time boosters, maybe you should watch your meaningless public utterances about said coach.Like, say, you're West Virginia president Mike Garrison. When a twelve-year-old mails you an application, don't say this...
Garrison responded by sending the boy a letter that thanks him and tells him the position has been filled by an "equally qualified candidate."...because then people will make fun of you. Like this person. In an admittedly meta fashion, yes.
Other items with qualifications on par with Bill Stewart's to run a major college program:
- Rich Rodriguez's pinky
- dead gopher
- two flash cards that read "zone read left" and "zone read right"
- Bill Callahan

Brian Cook, what is it with you and WVU? Leave Coach Stewart alone. Rodriquez chose to leave. He also benefitted from 3 years of Pat White and Steve Slaton. Let's see how well he does with out them. True Mountaineer fans just want this to go away.

Not really one to comment but this was hilarious:
"True Mountaineer fans just want this to go away."
There are 3 true Mountaineer fans in the world. Accusing a Michigan fan of being obsessed with WVU seems a little backwards, does it not?

Get a sense of humor Pat. Can't you admit it's a _little_ funny that Garrison didn't think about what he was saying, especially with some controversy around the hire? Anyone who doesn't have their ego wrapped up too tightly with their team could have a good laugh about this.

Oh come on man, he was just being nice to a little kid. Brian always writes the most opiniated, biased crap on fanhouse. I also enjoy how you bash a man, who, unlike Rodriguez, was able to win a big game with good offense AND sound defense, in favor of blowing a man who has yet to coach a game for you yet. He couldn't even go undefeated in the Big East for crying out loud, you think he's going to lead Michigan to a national title? Sure he'll do well his first few years because Big 10 "defenses" move like molasses, but once they figure out how to defend the spread, he'll be just another guy with a quirky offense and 0 defense.
