Doing Lines: Chris Paul Destroys the Spurs

Chris Paul
Every now and again there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual
lines from around the L. Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list.

Yes, I realize this is the third post we've done about last night's Spurs-Hornets game, but Chris Paul's line in the boxscore made my jaw drop: 26 points, 17 assists and three steals in just 34 minutes. That, my friends, is how you lead your team to a 25-point stomping over the reigning world champions (despite the world champions stomping on him).

Baron Davis was nearly as nice: he scored 23 points with 15 assists and just one turnover while leading the Warriors over the Raptors. Teammate Monta Ellis, meanwhile, put the "fish" in efficient with 33 points on 14 of 19 shooting to go with six boards and four assists.

I think I might change this section to be called "And What Did LeBron Do?" LBJ rarely gets top billing in this series, but that's just because he's set the bar so high for himself. But yeah, just so we're clear, he was friggin' amazing, too: 42 points, 11 boards, seven assists, two blocks and one steal. Plus, it was good enough to pass Austin Carr into second place on the Cavs' all-time scoring list. He's just 122 points away from the top spot, which is being kept warm by Brad Daughterty. The only downer? The Cavs lost 104-99 to the Nets.

It was all for nothing considering the Houston Rockets steamrolled the Hawks for their 20th win in a row, but but goodness did Josh Smith dominate the boards last night: he grabbed 22 boards to go with 16 points and a pair of steals. How many boards is 22? It's just one fewer than what Houston's starting front court managed combined.
