Spurs Give Up, Score Just Eight Fourth Quarter Points in New Orleans

If it wasn't bad enough to have a member of their team trying to stomp out the manhood of the other team's best player, the Spurs had an additional reason to be ashamed of themselves in New Orleans. They seemingly gave up in the fourth quarter, and managed to score only eight points in the period which contributed to their 25-point loss to the Hornets.

Manu Ginobili seemed to have a logical excuse for the Hornets win:

"They were making every kind of shot,'' Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said. "It's really hard to win like that. I don't think we played horrible. We've played worse before. They just executed great.''

While Manu is definitely wrong about the "I don't think we played horrible" part, there is one thing he's right about: his team has definitely played worse. Recently, even. The Spurs managed only five points in the first quarter of a game against the Hawks, so they're not exactly strangers to seeing single digits in their team box scores. A few more performances like this, and Gregg Popovich may just blow his last gasket. I mean, if he yells at his team after a win, what do you think he'll have to say after a game like this one?
