This points out yet another amazing fact about that streak. With all of Bowen's questionable antics over the years, you're telling me he's never actually been suspended?! Not for kicking Wally in the face, or kneeing Nash in the groin? Unbelievable. Well, all I can say is, it's about damn time, and it's coming tonight in Detroit. Hopefully the Pistons take care of business and put a little extra sting in this one for Bowen and the Spurs.

Bruce Bowen Suspended
Finally, it seems that the league has come to their senses regarding something that the historically dirty Bruce Bowen has done on the court. The NBA has smacked Bowen with a one game suspension for the stomping of the jewels incident that occurred near the end of the Spurs' low-scoring loss to the Hornets. Once again, here's the play that will end Bowen's consecutive games streak at 500.

bowens deserves to not only be suspended but kicked out of the league for a few years. He has always been a dirty player. If he wanted to be dirty then maybe he should have gone into hockey or rugby.

I guess everyone could see that suspension coming and yes, Bruce deserves it!
That being said, am I the only one thinking that Stu Jackson is handing out way more suspensions this year than he did in the past? Everytime there is a "hard" foul during a game you can bet that there will be a suspension note in the newssection of nba.com within 24 - 48 hours....

I think it's about time he get suspended. There's nothing wrong intimidating your opponents to get in their heads, but to actually win by taking out players physically, its not just wrong, its cheating. They should get Horry and Bowen play football instead, that's the way they play anyways.

Well, in reference to the suspension to Bruce Bowen, I guess I am (with a lot of others) seeing a different video of what actually happened during the incident involving Bruce and Chris Paul, than the league and the above comments. I am with Coach Popovich, I didn't see any actual contact, unless it was accidental from Bruce. To say he did it intentionally is not right at all and to suspend him and not Chris Paul???? What's the deal??? But, to each his own. To ruin Bruce's streak with something like this is totally ridiculous. Being a San Antonion all my life, I know that Bruce is not dirty player like everyone thinks he is. If you actually look at the video closely, when the incident happens, Chris Paul is actually waving his hands and his feet like a baby, his right hand hits Bruce in his "jewels" and, when Bruce's foot comes down, he does not land on Chris' "Jewels". Take another look!!!!!

I just watched the video and I can't see what you think is intentional. The guy on the floor is rolling around, Bruce is trying not to fall and to play the game at the same time, and there was no intentional blow to delicate areas. Bruce is a fierce, dedicated competitor, not a low-class bully as some try to paint him. He is charged, night after night, with guarding the league's best players and he does a masterful job. His behavior is in line with accepted behavior in the NBA, and the fact that he thwarts the effectiveness of many of the league's finest should not make him the object of discretionary, judgmental calls and comments.

Thank you L Menchaca, I see that you see it the way a lot of people see it. Nothing was done intentionally as I said in my earlier comment. And, to the comment that Martin made- we will not cry you a river, we are just telling it how it really is!!!!!

Hey, what's the deal, using the "b" and the "bs" words?? I thought this blog was supposed to be kept clean???? And, as far as your comment JackB- Bruce is a good defender and he doesn't do as much as someone like Dirk, Shaq, Carmello, LeBron, etc. with pushing off with their extended elbows.

Wow... why are you blogging for the Spurs??? You obviously, from your recent blogs, actually seem to hate them. So you're blogs are biased and no one should take you seriously.

SpursK is biased too. But I think he kicked him in the stomach. I think the league waited until he played 500 games before putting in the suspension. Jumpshooters are afraid of Edward Scissorhands because he play into them when they take their shot and land on his foot and sprain their ankle. A lot of people are beating up Chris Paul.
