USC-Kansas State: O.J. Mayo Takes on Michael Beasley in NCAA Tournament

The full NCAA Tournament bracket has been revealed, and as I look at the 32 first-round games, one stands out to me more than any other: In Omaha, 6 seed USC taking on 11 seed Kansas State.

I don't necessarily think that will be the most exciting of the first-round games, and I don't think it's a game that's likely to produce a team that will go on to the Final Four. But it's the most interesting game to me because of the two high-profile freshmen involved, USC's O.J. Mayo and Kansas State's Michael Beasley.

Beasley is an absolutely amazing player. Look at Kansas State's scouting report and you can see that he's not a reason the Wildcats are in the Big Dance; he's the reason. He does everything. Mayo is USC's unquestioned leader -- and when I say unquestioned I mean not even coach Tim Floyd would question whether Mayo runs the show.

As long as David Stern forces players to wait one year after high school to get to the NBA, talented freshmen will dominate college basketball. Last year we never got to see Greg Oden play Kevin Durant, but this year we're lucky to see Mayo take on Beasley.
