Is that OK with you? It's not OK with Michael McCarthy of USA Today, who writes:
Worst promo. Who's the genius behind the lame promo during CBS's coverage of the tournament Saturday and Sunday about Britney Spears' appearance on How I Met Your Mother? In the clip from tonight's episode, Spears' flirty receptionist asks Neil Patrick Harris' character if they can have sex, then go shopping. Cute. We know Hollywood loves to outrage the squares in Middle America. But there are kids watching these games.Although I disagree with McCarthy's apparent opinion that "Hollywood" represents what's immoral about our country while "Middle America" represents what's right, I've long thought that the TV networks show inappropriate content during commercials of sporting events. The best option for parents is to change the channel when the commercials come on.

Same old tired line...if you don't like it...change the channel...except now we're supposed to do it when the commercials come on...except this wasn't a commercial, it was a PROMO. Maybe the advertisers who sponsor the NCAA tourney don't want their product associated with inappropriate promos broadcast during prime time (CBS, FOX, are you listening?). As a parent, I can't stand it. I hope the ad execs read these blogs. I couldn't agree more with Mr. McCarthy.

After reading these comment sections, I have no idea why advertisers would believe crude, shocking and simplistic messages would resonate best with sports fans... no idea at all.

This blatant disregard for viewing ethics is precisely why I watch only the local news on CBS

Commercials should be sensored and scrutinized just like all prime time/kid time shows. This commercial is inappropriate. Sex may sell, but I won't be watching the sitcom due to the ad and due to the actress.

I'm sure all of us cannot wait to see a mentally unstable washed up pop star hook up with an openly gay guy trying to play a hetero unsuccessfully. Kids should not be exposed to this crap.

After a weekend of the CBS promo machine churning non-stop, I guarantee I will not be watching any CBS programming until the games resume.

I find nothing wrong with this promo; in fact it's funny. I am sick to death of the "morality police" trying to censor what adults watch. Not all of us have children, and frankly, we are tired of overzealous parents, evangelical types, etc. who who think censorship is OK and believe that the First Amendment does not exist - or wish it would go away. And "Dave", if you had ever watched "How I Met Your Mother", you would never have referred to Neil Patrick Harris as an "openly gay guy trying to play a hetero unsuccessfully." Not only is he hilarious - and Emmy nominated for this role - but completely convincing as straight horn-dog guy. Get over your homophobe tendencies and watch the show; I'm sure you will laugh. And if you don't want to see such "racy" shows, simply TURN OFF your set! Problem solved...

Promotion, advertisements, sales it's all the same! They are trying to sell viewers. Unfortunately "propagandas" are inended for these measures precisely. Some will buy some wont. At the end of the day it's all about numbers. Let's talk about the economy. That's newsworthy. Let's take advantage of the FHA loan products the government has introduced with the stimulus package, to stimulate the economy and take advantage of those 5-7% rates regardless of value of property or credit. And those with great credit get into this program instead of the economy's going high rates right now!! www.1-800-yes-loan.com
