I guess we can add "choker" to the long list of adjectives to describe the world's best player. Tiger Woods got off to a fast start at the CA Championships with opening rounds of 67 and 66, and then, out of nowhere, he posted a 72 on moving day ... while every other golfer on the property went low.
The final round spilled over into a Monday finish thanks to some crappy weekend weather, but not even God's best efforts could prevent the inevitable: Woods finally losing after eight months and seven tournaments. Geoff Ogilvy, the 2006 U.S. Open champion, was the wire-to-wire leader, and staved off late runs by Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk for the one-stroke victory.
Woods struggled with his putting for the first time all season and that proved to be the difference. Still, Eldrick managed to finish in fifth place just two strokes off the lead. The point: even when Woods is off his game, he's still pretty hard to beat.
In terms of Tiger's ultimate goal -- winning the grand slam -- I don't think this changes much. It just means we'll have to come up with storylines more original than "Will Woods Ever Lose Again?!?"

1. Drive for show , putt for the dough. Tiger lost because he putted like a human for a change. Glad to see that the rest of the field didn't fold right on cue as usual, giving Tiger another chance to win. It almost looks like professional wrestling sometimes.

2. And another thing !! - Can the TV stations find any announcers other than than Tiger Woods groupies? They even invent excuses for the guy when he makes a bad shot or putt. I mean , it can't possibly be his fault.

3. Everyone has a bad day or two. Tiger is still one of the best golfers this world has seen.

4. The funniest part of this article is your story line and your reference to the"story line" issue at the end of the article. I suppose the current story line is and would be considered cute or maybe clever. How about creative? Or maybe "eye catching". We actually could be accurate, but God forbid we go that route.
Actually I read the article so we can say you were successful...I just do not want to say what you achieved in doing. I just might be TOO accurate.

7. Even Superman has a bad day on the golf course. In the words of Governor Arnold "I'll be back!" Seven consecutive wins ain't chopped liver.

10. Sure Tiger is a failure.(;-) It's amazing that he finished the way he did with all the stuff that goes on around him.
Essentially, Tiger lost the tournament because of two inches, the amount the ball would have to move left or right on his five lipouts, 3 of which went in the hole and came back out.
Did you see his interview afterwards. "It's pretty good that I was only a couple shots out after playing so poorly." That's a champion speaking.

11. I can't believe you wrote that story. I had to read it to try to understand what you were trying to say. Tiger will go down as the greatest golfer in history and it is OK if he doesn't win all the time. He is, after all, HUMAN.

12. That was the worst article ever written. You should learn something about golf before you call Tiger a choker.

13. I think whoever wrote this article or agrees with it should try breaking 100. Tiger is the BEST ATHLETE ever. You are a fool and know nothing about choking. A top 10 finish is not a choke
