Pacman Jones Won't Ever Visit a Strip Club Again ... for Three or Four Years

Pacman Jones made his way onto the Michael Irvin Show today, ostensibly to set the record straight on his extensive criminal record, his passion for strip clubs, and his desire to play for the Dallas Cowboys. And it was such an event that the Dallas Morning News' Cowboys Blog live-blogged the three-hour affair.

Some highlights/lowlights, depending on your perspective:

  • Irvin and his co-host Kevin Kiley set up Jones' appearance by explaining the difference between strip clubs and gentlemen's establishments.
  • Jones talks about his extremely rough childhood and admits that "It's getting to the point where it ain't no time for slip-ups right now..."
  • Jones admits that visiting a strip club the night before meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell (a meeting that was to decide Jones' NFL future, by the way) was "a bad decision ... it was one of the dumbest decisions I've ever made." Ever? Really?
  • To Irvin's credit, he asks Jones tough questions about his rap sheet, which inevitably leads to this heading on the Cowboys Blog: "So much for saying all the right things". Followed by the first sentence of the post: "This has turned into a complete disaster for Pacman Jones." Shocking.
  • Despite sitting out last season, Jones says he's good for two wins a year all by himself.
  • When asked if he's done with strip clubs, Jones offered this: "I cannot say ever, ever ... But I can say they won't see me [in strip clubs] for the next three or four years."

Sure sounds like Mr. Pacman has learned a very valuable lesson from all of this. Assuming he ever gets another chance in the NFL, I'll conservatively set the over/under on him getting banned from the league for life at eight weeks.
