A car valued at $187,000 belonging to Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman was stolen and set on fire, CBS 8 in San Diego is reporting (via PFT). According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the car is a 2006 Mercedes sports coupe, and it was engulfed in flames when San Diego police officers discovered it last week around about midnight on Thursday.
The car was reportedly found sitting on top of plastic milk crates, with all of its wheels missing. The 23-year-old Merriman had not reported the car stolen and it is not clear when he learned of its theft.
Merriman is a car enthusiast (he's pictured in the starter stand before the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Auto Club 500 at the Auto Club Speedway of Southern California last month), and it's no surprise that he spent $187,000 on a car, seeing as he once spent $32,000 on a dinner.
Merriman's car was fully insured.

12. It's sickening to know someone would actually purchase a car for so much money. It sounds like, "my money buys more than your money." In a way, I don't blame the person(s) who stole, stipped and burned the car. Those responsible are more than likely poor individuals. Like many of us, the theives probably couldn't comprehend why a person would spend so much for a car. So, they took it and did what they did with it. On the other hand, the stripping and burning of the auto could be an inside job. There's much to be considered with this case.

13. Why are all you people hating on "Lights Out"? He's worth millions... So what you are all saying is that he should buy a honda accord right? WRONG!!! If you had millions in your bank account I'm pretty sure you would buy a $190k car and be happy as hell you did it... I say if you can afford it, get it but if you cant afford it then theres nothing wrong with having a Champagne taste with a Beer Wallet...lol

15. Um, Josh does he have to be ignorant? Maybe he's out of town or was not at home when it was stolen.
He can spend his money how he wants, he earns it. He will not be broke in a 20 years from stupidity, maybe bad investments. Anyone who has seen him talk, knows he's got a good head on his shoulders. One drug test failed, with 20 passed before the failed test and more than 20 passed since, does not make the him a chronic cheater.
Jealosy is easy to see in the comments posted on here.

17. I think Bill Bellicheck had something to do with it. I think Arlene Spector needs to call another investigation into Shawnes car. Ummm I am willing to bet that Bill hired someone to steal his car, take the tires off, then do the STUPID lights out dance on the hood while it was sitting on milk crates, then final act was to burn it. Yep smells like a coverup there....Get Roger Goodell on the phone....oh wait, he might be the one who burned it to conceal the evidence so Ol Spector has no proof of who did it and why.....Yes it all makes sense now....LMAO dumbasses
