During the first four days of the NCAA Tournament, large decals with the NCAA logo were placed in the middle of the court at every venue. It's not exactly clear what those decals were made of, but they were slippery enough that two North Carolina players, Tyler Hansbrough and Marcus Ginyard, slipped on them. Coach Roy Williams began his post-game press conference by saying, "Pull the dadgum things off."
That's exactly what the NCAA is doing for the rest of the Tournament. The Charlotte Observer reports that the decals will not be on the floor in upcoming games, and that the NCAA will review their use after the Tournament.
Fine. But what on earth was the NCAA doing placing decals that could make players slip on the floor in the first place? Did they learn nothing from the Chicago Marathon? If the NCAA thinks getting brand recognition for its logo is more important than the safety of the players, its priorities are even more screwed up than I thought.

Hey Roy,
Haven't you noticed how many times bugeyes falls down in a game. It's got nothing to do with decals...

THE STICKERS ON THE FLOOR WERE A DEFINATE PROBLEM. THE NCAA OFFICIALS ADMITTED THIS AND GOT RID OF THEM. END OF DISCUSION
