In a move that will come as a complete shock to absolutely no one, the Indianapolis Colts extended GM Bill Polian's contract through 2011.Polian has built a franchise here that won a Super Bowl and has compiled a regular-season record of 105-55 over the last ten seasons, eight of which ended with a playoff berth. Yes, the man knows what he's doing.
In fact, it's a clear sign of respect for Polian that the Jaguars, Titans and Texans all appear to be inching closer to the Colts in the AFC South, while the Colts suddenly have holes to fill on their offensive line -- and the pundits still say the Colts are clearly the class of the division.
That's a testament to Polian's ability to find quality players in the draft. He's drafted Peyton Manning, Dwight Freeney, Bob Sanders, Joseph Addai, Reggie Wayne and plenty of other players currently in the Colts' starting lineup.
He'll need to have another strong draft this year, which will be tough, given that the Colts dealt away their 1st-round pick for Tony Ugoh last year, but guess what? He's a starter, too. Clearly, owner Jim Irsay has faith that Polian will fill the gaps currently in this team's lineup once again. When hasn't he?

1. Smart move by Jim Irsay to keep Bill Polian on the general manager position. The Colts will continue their winning ways under his leadership.
