Apparently, Pacman Jones Isn't Worth Much More Than a Seventh-Round Pick

The going rate for a former sixth-overall selection who is currently serving a one-year suspension for various strip-club related transgressions is apparently a seventh-round pick. Which is akin to Jerry Jones saying, "I'll give you a $100 Amazon.com gift certificate for the honor of taking Pacman Jones off your hands."

The Titans are certainly looking to unload Jones, but since they gave up quite a lot to get him, they'd like something more than a seventh-rounder. And understandably so.
After their initial offer of a seventh-round draft pick to the Titans for their suspended cornerback was rejected, the Cowboys have upped their proposal to include a player along with the late-round selection, a source told SI.com.
So basically it'll be a player-for-player swap because seventh-rounders just about never make it past taxi-squad status. And unless the Cowboys are making a run for the Practice Squad Super Bowl, the pick won't much matter.

In any event, the Cowboys would like to renegotiate Jones' rookie deal -- one that's currently paying him $30 million over five years -- to be a little more Cowboy-friendly.

According to SI.com's Bucky Brooks, Dallas favors a one-year, incentive-laden deal to "protect their interests." Mr. Pacman says he's willing to re-work his contract if it means playing for the Cowboys so all that's left to do is find a warm body to placate the Titans.

Assuming this trade somehow happens, and Jones can will himself out of strip clubs for a year and plays well, he could be in line for a huge payday next off-season from any number of clubs needing secondary help. A lot of "ifs" there, and it's probably more likely the Earth gets struck by an asteroid, but people can change. I mean, O.J. hasn't killed anybody in almost 14 years.
