Chad Pennington's Fishing Trip Gone Wrong

What is it with NFL quarterbacks and animal authorities? Like many of you, I thought Michael Vick's malfeasance was an isolated incident but it seems that signal callers all around the league play it fast and loose when it comes to the myriad creatures that share the globe with human beings. The latest to get caught up in the net is Jets quarterback Chad Pennington. A day of bass fishing in Florida nearly landed him in some hot water.
A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer had just the opposite reaction when Pennington handed him his fishing license during a routine check later that day. It looked like a pretty bad one.

Pennington mistakenly thought the Florida fishing license he had purchased included both salt- and freshwater, but it allowed saltwater privileges only. Officer Garret Fields let Pennington escape with only a warning ticket.

When will these athletes finally accept that they are not above the law? Roger Goodell will not take this lying down!

Some things to ponder while waiting to see if Pennington is suspended for this infraction: When he throws undersized fish back, can he throw them long or do they bang off the side of the boat? Did Pennington misread the saline content or did he know he was forcing his hook into the wrong coverage? What kind of angler is Kellen Clemens?
