It Will Take More Than a Seventh-Rounder and a Warm Body to Pry Pacman From the Titans

In an effort to please FanHouse readers everywhere -- particularly this Cowboys fan -- here's the latest on the Pacman Jones saga: earlier i mentioned that Dallas offered Tennessee a seventh-round pick and a warm body for Mr. Pacman and the Titans are currently mulling the offer.

Yeah, nix that. Apparently, SI.com's Bucky Brooks got some bad information. At least according to the Dallas Morning News' Todd Archer (via Blogging the Boys):
The ... story from SI.com has the Cowboys offering a seventh round pick and a player to the Titans for Pacman. Checked that out with people ... They said it's not true.
Archer also refuted a rumor that I hadn't heard: Pacman didn't take a tour of the' new stadium with Cowboys officials because, well, that would be tampering. And given that NFL Commissioner is VERY SERIOUS about tampering, Dallas probably wouldn't have been so obvious about it.

Now that we have our fact straight, what's in Jones' future? No idea, but I'm guessing he still ends up in Dallas because there aren't a bunch of other teams seemingly interested in his services. As somebody (can't remember who) mentioned on Total Access earlier this week, the Cowboys aren't afraid to take a flier on a player with off-field issues because they're equipped to deal with them.

Specifically, former Cowboys player Calvin Hill who, according to ESPN, "is now a consultant specializing in monitoring troubled players." And so far, he's been pretty good at keeping Terrell Owens and Tank Johnson in check. (Though, to be fair, T.O. has never had an po-po-related off-field issues; just naked front-yard sit-ups and suicide attempts.)
