The heat in the desert must be getting to Shaq, and it's not even summertime yet. First he needlessly slammed his former coach, and now he's saying utterly ridiculous things about Kevin Garnett. This came up when Shaq was asked who he thought the MVP should be, and he at least initially got it right: he went with "the Kobester," which is what it's been looking like for a while now. But when asked by the Boston media, hey, what about KG, that's when it sounded like Shaq went off his meds.
"I'm going to have to go with my guy before him," he said, motioning to Stoudemire's locker. "All day, every day. They've got the same numbers," O'Neal said. "Yeah, I would."
For MVP? This year?
"Yeah."
"Garnett doesn't play defense."
I don't even know where to begin with this. The reason the Celtics have the best record in the league is because of their defense, anchored of course by KG. You'd think Shaq would be aware of this, having just finished a game where the Celtics completely shut his Suns down in the third quarter, holding them to just 16 points and forcing seven turnovers.
Shaq's getting to the point where we need to treat him like a crazy uncle, someone who you just expect to say outlandish things but that you don't take seriously. Sure, it might be fun to listen, but you know deep down that the person you're speaking with definitely has a screw loose.

4. He must be kidding. Amare over KG because KMUTHAFUDGING-G DOESN'T PLAY DEFENSE? "I CAN'T STAY IN FRONT OF KWAME BROWN" AMARE? "I CAN'T BLOCK EARL BOYKINS SHOT IN THE LANE" AMARE? Unbelievable.

5. It's a tight race this year, but in my biased opinion KG should get it. If if he's not in the mix, then Boston is not much improved from last year. I know the Lakers wouldn't be too good without Bryant, but they were not even considered serious contenders until a short time ago. Bryant should win the MVP for whining however.

6. kg's got two allstars on his team. Kobe couldn't win it early in his carrer because he had shaq. Nash wins it twice with two all stars on his team. Kobe last year wasn't Mvp because everyone else on the team wasn't doing enough. Kobe's never even finished second in voting. Just give it to the man already. The definition for MVP changes every year, but for the last three years the best player in the NBA hasn't.

7. Shaq doesn't have a "screw loose" as you put it, it's just that his generous heart and his fun-loving, jokester personality often mask the fact that he's simply not that bright and that he's still very immature in many ways even at 36. Shaquille O'Neal is famous for being a professional athlete, not an intellectual, and the more he's talked over the years the more that has become painfully apparent. Shaq has always been better off when joking and clowing around as when conversations take a serious turn he often finds himself out of his depth, simple as that.

8. Shaq lives by the old saying, "Love the one your with." Problem is, he is losing creibility with some of the assinine stuff he's saying. He may be victim to the fact that he's always been surrounded by people who kiss his butt and laugh at his jokes. Who knows? Maybe he's trying to prove his comic ability for a job after he stops playing, which was about three years ago.

9. Shaq calls out guys on the Heat? What a cry baby. Maybe he should change his diapers. He was bagging it in Miami, and now says the Dr's & trainers are better in Phoenix? This guy is a piece of work. Rile's did him a great favor by signing him to a 100 million $ extension, then getting him taded to a contender. THis is how he treats the people who helped him? What a loser with a capital L.

13. it's funny how people with no concrete evidence to support their opinions result to petty insults and vulgarity. anyways, 81 points, a better shooter than lebron ever dreamed about being, and kobe's assists have gone up each year since shaq was traded. put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Chris Paul is the clear MVP. Kobe could not tie his shoelaces without a decent center.

16. KG almost plays defense as good as Jordan did, and Kobe almost is as good of an offensive player as Jordan. God, I miss Jordan, because he was more talented than Garnett and Bryant combined. LeBron for MVP!
