At halftime Xavier has a 32-25 lead over West Virginia. Surprisingly, West Virginia should feel pretty good considering they fell behind by 18 with 9 minutes to go. They clamped on defense, holding Xavier to only 4 points the rest of the way. West Virginia has done this, despite 0-6 on 3s, Joe Alexander saddled with foul troubles and only 3 points. To say nothing of Xavier shooting 6-12 on 3s.
If this seems familiar, it's because West Virginia started similarly against Duke in the previous round. The Mountaineers were down against Duke and shot poorly in the first half, but got within 5 by the half. In the second half, they turned on the offense and after not hitting 3s, began connecting.
West Virginia can't be expected to continue shooting that poorly from outside, and it is hard to believe the Musketeers can continue to be that hot from outside.

1. How do you feel now Mr. Alexander after losing in the sweet 16 when an ACC team just moved on to the Elite Eight? I think you were caught up in the moment after defeating a good Duke team but do not say bad things against the ACC. See you next year.

2. Uh, let's see, an 18 point lead in the first half, coupled with the most gratuitous calls in the NCAA tournament for Xavier and still WVU gets it into overtime?? You gotta be kiddin' me, the ref's took over this game at the overtime start and made sure that Xavier won. They won't go another game, and WVU sure could have beat UCLA.

3. Another thing, the ACC is clearly the weakest conference in the NCAA, when you play lame teams all year your bound to get an inflated sense of yourself.

4. How could you say the ACC is the weakest conference in the NCAA when The Tarheels have 5 NCAA Championships, 16 Final Fours. Duke has 3 NCAA Championships and 14 Final Fours. I just hope your proud of your 13 NCAA Rifle Championships!!

5. You've got to be kidding me - Alexander should have foulded out with about ten minutes to go in regulation. The charge call was clearly a block that the ref missed. Alexander's 5th foul wasn't going to be called until Duncan airballed a two footer and the ref realized he ought to call it. Huggins was his typical self - in the refs ear all game - the Moutaineers got the calls my friend. It shouldn't have been that close!
