Freshman Derrick Rose has been the missing piece for Memphis this season, the difference from the team that was good in 2007 to this year's Final Four team, which has the potential to be remembered as great. But will Rose be gone for the NBA after the Final Four is completed, or might we see him in college basketball again next year? Memphis coach John Calipari said this:
"If he wants to do what's right for him and his family, he'll go pro. If he wants to do what's right for me and my family, he'll stay."Obviously, Calipari was trying to be funny, but there's a lot of truth in that statement. For a long time, college football and basketball coaches tried to get their most talented players to stay in school (Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer was particularly shameless in the way he tried to persuade Michael Vick not to leave), but the majority of college coaches have now come around to the point where they acknowledge that for talented players, the best thing for themselves and their families is to take the money. That's what Rose will likely do, with Calipari's blessing.

It will be a very good ideal for Rose to go to the NBA, but he also should keep in mind that education is just as equally important. Maybe if he does decide to go he could finish his degree through U of M online programs. When there'e a will there's definetly a way!

Coach Cal is right on (as usual)as Rose will be in NBA next year....meanwhile he is creating a lot of memories and smiles for the die-hard Tiger fans. He will be missed but what a ride!!!! I wish him well in all endeavors.
