Memphis has suspended backup guard Andre Allen for violating team rules:Team spokesman Lamar Chance confirmed the suspension, first reported by television stations WMC and WREG, but declined to say what rule or rules Allen violated.
The Tigers will face UCLA on Saturday night in the semifinals in San Antonio.
"He was not on the plane. He is not here in San Antonio," Chance told The Associated Press when reached on his cell phone.
Allen is a tenacious defensive player who comes off the bench to be a stopper. He's not an offensive guy; he scored just nine total points in the Tigers' four NCAA Tournament games after averaging 3.3 ppg this season. Not having him is a big deal with Memphis facing UCLA's Darren Collison and Russell Westbrook on Saturday.

1. it figures they would do something like this to help UCLA anyway they can if you play the whole year as a team you should get to play in the tournment I mean does Jim really want to win they are only 13 players to UCLA's 16 and now 12 they lost a great deferder, point guard, assisat man, and gives rose a breather, also shoot the 3 pointer. Get the man on a plane if you want to win in Texas this weekend.

3. i am sick and tired of college players not going by the team rules because they think they are to good. i commend the coach for what he did and i think that all coaches should do the same. also the men should not be allowed to leave till they graduate like the girls. there are 2 sets of rules in the ncaa. 1 for the girls the other for the boys. it should be the same for all

4. What makes it especially sad is that Andre is applying for an extra year of eligibility so if he doesn't get it, this is how he will end his collegiate basketball career.
Hopefully, the Tigers will use this as an extra incentive to bring it all home.

7. ok if that is the case lets see what all you cry if wimp freshman mama's boy kevin love was suspended. theres my point. different set of rules for whom you play for! UCLA is a classless bounch of wimps i could take 4 guys off the street and beat their starters and I haven't played basketball since I was a teenager. Overreated the West always will be. I mean Kansas is suppose to be untouchable and some nobody team Davidson nearly wins against them with one little guy come on give me a freakin' break. I guarded guys like him in Highschool and college and they are great shooters you bump them enough throughout the game and make them play defense that will take care of that as the game goes along. North Corlina should win easly against Kansas.

8. Tony Tazz, If you break the rules, you should be out. No matter how good you are! They won even without him. And as of right now, Kansas City seems to be in the lead!
