Grabbing a woman of brief acquaintance by the wrist and asking to see her breasts can often be the first step down a slippery slope. Just ask Dodgers broadcaster Steve Lyons. He met Stacey Roy by a hotel pool in Maui and, well, let's let court documents tell us what happened from there.Following an afternoon of poolside conversation, Lyons followed Roy in the elevator to the floor of her hotel room and took her by the wrist to a hallway alcove, where he asked her to expose her breasts. She declined to do. Roy later complained of an ensuing sexual attack, which Lyons denied.Lyons did agree that he grabbed her wrist and ask for a peek, but when she declined, played the part of imperfect gentleman and walked her to her hotel room. Roy sued him anyway and, as Deadspin reports, Lyons paid her $175,000 in a confidential settlement. So how do we know all of this?
As you might have noticed, those court documents are from a suit filed by Lyons against his homeowners insurance company alleging they should pay the cost of the settlement. Which is both a funny way to keep things quiet and a funny way of interpreting what's covered by homeowner's insurance.
Lyons has a history of exhibitionism. One of the things he's best known for is dropping his pants on the diamond after a headfirst slide. The other things he's known for are racially questionable comments about Lou Piniella and Shawn Green so his bad judgment would seem to have historical precedent as well.
