Chris Henry Thinks Michael Irvin Can Help Salvage His Career

In the future, it might make more sense for NFL players to do the apparently mandatory public mea culpas sometime before their careers are all but finished because of too-numerous-to-count off-field issues. Two weeks ago, Pacman Jones took his case to The Michael Irvin Show, undoubtedly to sell the people of Dallas on the new-and-improved version of the guy who spent last year out of football because of various stripper-related transgressions.

And now recently unemployed Chris Henry wants to do the same. Via the Cowboys Blog:
On his show on ESPN Radio Dallas moments ago, Cowboys icon Michael Irvin revealed that he recently took a phone call from embattled ex-Bengal Chris Henry. Henry, it seems, wants to make a cleaning-up-my-act appearance on Irvin's program, the same way Pacman Jones did weeks ago.

Irvin and co-host Kevin Kiley discussed the merits of providing Henry with such a stage. There was some reluctance on their part in becoming known as the "Boystown" of sports radio.
Maybe an NFL version of "Scared Straight" is in order. I mean, none of those kids re-offended. Might be something for Roger Goodell to consider.

Although I applaud Irvin for having some reservations about all of this, I'm morbidly curious as to how Henry would explain his double-digit police run-ins since coming to Cincinnati in 2005. I'm sure it's dawned on him that he has no real job prospects outside of football, and this could be his last chance to make a few bucks.

Of course, you think he would've gotten the message, oh, say, four or five arrests ago, particularly since he's providing for his family, but, hey, some people take longer to get the message than others.

On a related note, Ken Broo is very, very serious.
