The Word:

Jeff Fisher Calls Pacman Jones 'A Very Good Locker Room Guy', Doesn't Crack Up Once

Pacman Jones might have his share of issues once he leaves the team facility -- enough, in fact, to warrant NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspending him for the 2007 season. But that doesn't mean he's not a joy to be around on the football field. At least, that's the story Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, recently on Dan Patrick's radio show, is peddling as Tennessee tries to unload their former first-round pick:
"He's a very good teammate," Fisher said when asked if Pacman is a bad kid. "He's a very good locker room guy. He just has made a number of bad decisions outside the building. I think you'll ask any of his teammates, anybody that has played with him -- he's a great teammate, good locker room guy [and] very, very talented player."
I made this argument a few weeks ago when discussing Jones potentially landing in Dallas: "Unlike Terrell Owens, who had an amazing knack for dividing locker rooms, Jones' biggest issues were off the field. So there's really no fear of him doing to the Cowboys what T.O. did to the Eagles..."

A FanHouse commenter vehemently disagreed, and I'm guessing Fisher's commendation won't do much to change that opinion.

Of course, Fisher's trying to get something more than a late-round draft pick for Jones, so he certainly has reason to lay it on thick. But former teammate Tank Williams didn't have a bad thing to say about the guy, although Herm Edwards bluntly stated he wouldn't have Jones on his team.

Which presumably has something to do with the idea that no matter how swell a locker-room presence Jones is, it doesn't much matter if he's in jail.
