Mario Chalmers drilled a deep 3 pointer to tie the national championship game with just over two seconds tonight, a shot that propelled Kansas into overtime and onto the title. When Derrick Rose had hit an improbable falling away jumper a few minutes before, Billy Packer called it the shot of the tournament. Chalmers made sure that title didn't last long.As an immediate post game reaction - I've gotta wonder where that ranks in NCAA Championship Game history? Do you think it's right up there with Keith Smart and Michael Jordan? The North Carolina State airball / alley-oop?
My feeling is that since it only tied the game it can't be quite on the level of the shots that won games outright, but it has to be in the top 5 or so of all time. It capped a great comeback by Kansas and was a very high degree of difficulty considering the distance he shot it from. It's certainly one we'll be seeing for a very long time on a ton of highlight reels.

It was a great shot without a doubt, but you're exaggerating the distance of the shot. Take a look at the replay and you'll see that Chalmers' right foot was only a few inches behind the line.

Super Mario's shot was not from that far beyond the arc,,,but did you see the "arc" on the ball? Way up and down thru the middle of the net. If you counted the actual distance that the ball traveled vs a more standard shot arc then it was probably the equivalent of another 5-7' further out. More important than the "distance" was the "timing". Impeccable.

digger phelps was there shaking his head no, not that good to be a difference maker.
one of the single greatest clutch shots of all time.but then again mario is 47%behind the 3-pt line.

Dorsey had a problem with the officials, and most players know .Play the game, let the officials call it. He was never an asset to his Team. Great game, just what the Fans wanted. And All players must remember, Free throws are just that, FREE. And as Memphis saw, They can kill you. But Big ups for being there, at lest they were a part of History. Go Jayhawks.

Best shot of all time. 10 seconds left and Collins gets past Rose. Dishes the ball to Mario. BOOM! SWISH! A little more then 2 seconds left. Then the beating in OT. Mario Chalmers paved the way with his "Shot"
