Miami Dolphins fullback Reagan Mauia was arrested early this morning and charged with misdemeanor battery, Local 10 News in South Florida is reporting. The report cites an arrest affidavit as saying that Mauia punched a man in the face, "causing the victim to pass out and fall to the ground."
According to the report, Mauia asked the victim "what the f--- he was looking at," and after the victim said he wasn't looking at anyone, the report says, "Mauia became upset and said, 'You should know,'" and then punched the victim with a closed fist. He then drove off, and as he was leaving a witness took a picture of his license plate. When police ran the plate they got Mauia's address and went to his home, where he was arrested and transported to a Broward County jail.
A 2007 sixth-round draft pick, Mauia played in all 16 games for the Dolphins last year, starting nine. The team declined to comment.

Decking some guy outside a nightclub. This is really the punk kid of stuff we dont need in the NFL. By what I read it sounds like the guy got punched for no real reason. I'm sorry but this guy needs an eight week suspension! Keep up the good work commish, don't allow this type of public behavior!!

Fullbacks are amongst the toughest athletes in the world! A punch from a guy with his strength could kill a man if it hits him in the wrong spot, he's lucky it didn't happen this time. I sure hope the news was lying because because it sounded like an unprovoked attack. Surely alcohol must of clouded his judgement. Either way, he needs a stiff punishment.

The victim should know: don't mess with guys that big!!!
And this definitely gives Parcells a chance to make a statement by cutting an expendable player to set the tone that "We won't take that kind of behavior".

I don't think this guy is a thug, but the crime he committed is scary. And street fighting is not an acceptable image for a NFL player. I hope he gets a stiff penalty from the commish to teach the other players that street fighting will not be tolerated! Playing in the NFL is a well earned privilege, it takes natural talent and years of practice and conditioning. But thanks to Goddell we now expect a minimum level of behavior! Thank you Commissioner

This is can not be the whole story. Regan is a fine young man, there are many punks out there that when they see the dophin boys they call them all kinds of nasty names, like loosers/a-holes, etc.. curses ,and make nasty comments to the boys like You dont know how to play ball,etc.. I think this guy must of made comments to egg on this football player!! lets wait and see what comes out of this... Perhaps the other guy also took a first punch at Reagan... Reagan is not a violent boy, nor does he look for trouble, but here are indeed these punks out there, truly being very nasty to the boys!!! Hang in everyone and lets see what comes out, the TRUTH!!! will Come OUT!!!!

Good point Deb! Very Good point! My point, street fighting should be high on the punishment list for the NFL. That means if your gonna put on the jersey and make the big bucks well maybe you should stay away from the clubs. The NFL is asking for a minimum behavior level. For me thats awesome, it doesn't mean that your the best guy in town, just not a bad role model for the young fans. Remember this is a job as a public entertainer. You have to be able behave in public off the field also! I'm happy for this, NFL football is my favorite sport! And I'm finally proud of the stance the NFL is taking on Drugs, steroids and crime! Keep up the good work Commissioner!

As I said before, the truth will come out!! What that other guy, Michael was doing first, it will come out. Reagan would not, ever in a million years punch this guy in the face without a very, very , extremely good reason!!! Samoan boys are not like that, they are not raised like that, and they would never disrespect anyone like that!!! Reagan most especially would not do this, without an extreme push!! I can not comment too much, but I can say it is believed and felt that if that was not done, an innocent petite person would of been very hurt, but I will say when the whole story comes out, people will see Reagan for who he really is... a kind hearted respectful, caring young man!!
