Instead, he went out in 39 strokes, took 38 more on the way in, and signed for his 77 with the realization that he may never again have such an opportunity. Which is probably why Snedeker broke down during his post-round press conference. Can't really blame the guy, either. But if you're Sky Sports' Tony Wrighton, I guess you can laugh at him.
And that's why he didn't win. Classy.
Of course, Wrighton makes a good point, and the Brits have been racking up major victories like crazy recently. I mean, Nick Faldo won The Masters in 1996, and before him there was ... well, nobody. And then there's Tony Jacklin, 1970 U.S. Open winner; Nick Faldo (again), 1992 Open champ; and we're still waiting for an Englishman to win the PGA.
So laugh it up, friend. Sure, Snedeker may never have the honor of slipping on a green jacket, but he'll always have those beautiful golden locks. Well, until he starts to lose his hair, anyway.

1. This is your report on the final day of the 1st major? That some brit thought Brandt crying was funny? No mention of the winner? How'd Tiger do?
Maybe if he wasn't such a big softy he wouldn't crack under the pressure. I suppose you came to his honor, gave him a tissue and bit of a hug. Did you go for an ice cream after?
Gawd, I hope your a blogger and not getting paid to write this dribble.

2. @Greg
if you would do 30 seconds of work and click on the 'Golf' link, you might notice they did the Masters wrap up yesterday right after it ended. I guess you want your news a day late and not right after it happened.
pay attention please.

3. What a moron. Laughing at a guy at such a low point. The loser's email address is tonywrighton@f2s.com - I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.

4. I'd like to thank the reader who provided Tony Wrighton's email address. Here's the message I sent to Wrighton:
Your totally asinine, moronic comments regarding Brandt Snedeker's emotional press conference are offensive and sickening. He is one of the PGA's brightest lights, who is a delight to watch and whose demeanor on and off the course is a breath of fresh air. This young man showed enormous resilience to the tremendous pressure and attention on him, even being able to smile after a bad break or missing an important short putt.
He has a very bright future in his field and will be a well-loved star for years to come, as diametrically opposed to your career, which I'm sure, because of your ignorance and insensitivity, will very shortly be in the toilet.

5. How do you become a blogger? Do you have to have a double digit IQ in order to qualify? The Brits? Immellman is from South Africa, why this relates to the "brits" escapes me. Please go back to reporting on hoolywood news or whatever lame reporting you do but don't equate Trevor as being a brit, MORON!

6. KGar wins. And by "wins" I mean "loses."

7. I'm glad that the picture of Immelman and his wife said that Immelman was the one on the left. I'm glad we got that cleared up.

8. HE WAS CRYING BECAUSE HE LET HIMSELF DOWN...HE EXPECTED MORE OF HIMSELF...THE PEOPLE WHO DO THE BEST IN THIS WORLD ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE HARDEST ON THEMSELVES...THE MAN WHO LAUGHED AT HIH HAS NO CHANCE OF ACCOMPLISHING ANYTHING GREAT BECAUSE HE, OBVIOUSLY, SETS HIS STANDARDS VERY LOW.

9. We have become a nation of boorish clods! If a person cries--be it a woman or a man--it is a reflection of genuine sorrow or joy from within. How dare any of us make fun of that, a perfectly natural and reasonable response from a genuine human being. Maybe the people who are laughing should consider their own humanity . . . whether they truly have any or not.

10. I hope they fire that unfeeling stupid guy. Let's see if he cries then.

11. what a disgrace to laugh at a golfer who worked so hard to get the opportunity to compete in the Masters. You most certainly are nothing but a bystander with no idea of the emotions involved in a major golf tournament.

12. The people who laugh are the ones who are afraid to cry, and to live.

13. I agree with Tony. I was laughing at the cry baby myself. It's just a stupid game, not even a sport. Any fool can play that silly game. It's no more of a sport than bowling or riding a bicycle.

14. Re Wrighton's comment on Snedeker - all I have to say to Wrighton is - "so you're a man, and how much do you earn and how many people know who you are?" Jealousy raises its ugly head here because Wrighton will never be anything more than a no account nobody.

15. You should be replaced as soon as possible for your insensitive behaviour. You obviously don't understand the pressures of competition, so close but so far from winning and what it took for him to even get to this point. Maybe you need to try another job--not interviewing athletes right after a loss--There is a old saying: "Open mouth, insert foot". You did a very good job of that. Please pick a new career so you don't ruin another "upcoming star".

17. Knew you would fail to post it, enjoy your short career.

18. I absolutely cannot believe that Tony Wrighton, or anybody, could actually be so insensitive to this situation. Crying is a natural response to many different things. Has Tony never been so close to something so important to him then lost? Quite frankly, at least Brandt Snedeker has emotions, rather than being the junior high bully that Tony is.

19. On a completely different note...DAMN, BUT THAT BLONDE IS GORGEOUS!!! KGAR, you obviously aren't very skilled at reading comprehension.
At no time in the blog did the writer refer to Immelman as being a Brit. He simply pointed out(in view of the fact that the discompassionate Talking Head IS British)that Englishmen haven't exactly been dominating the world of Pro Golf.

20. Tony is an idiot and should be reprimanded - only a moron would act like he did . Good to see that there are Stars in sports that act human.. congrats to the winner - it tickled me pink to see him win. A great lesson for Tiger... I hope....
