With each pick of the FanHouse mock draft, we get into the head of an NFL general manager and let you know who he'll pick and why. A team like Dallas is adding depth at this spot. What Jerry Jones (and a lot of us) once thought would be a high pick (this is the draft pick the Cowboys received from Cleveland for last year's first round pick) has now become a pick in the back third of the first round.
We knew that Jones coveted his alma mater Arkansas' Darren McFadden. Well, he can get his understudy in Felix Jones.
Jones is the perfect compliment to Marion Barber. With Julius Jones gone (I know, that's a lot of Joneses), Dallas needs someone to share the load with Barber. He's a strong back with explosiveness and can turn small runs into big plays. Ego won't be a problem since he shared Arkansas' backfield with McFadden.
Felix Jones is an excellent blocker and is an outstanding receiver out of the backfield. He's also an All-American kick returner.
As I said before, Dallas (who picks again at #28) is looking at adding depth ... so the fact that Jones can add some wrinkles to the current Cowboys team is a plus. He'd be an outstanding 3rd down back, a nice change of pace option in the backfield and a plug-in on special teams. Putting him on the return teams could mean leaving WR Patrick Crayton off that duty and allowing him to focus on becoming the receiver he's
I feel that Dallas will address the running back position here ... especially with a guy of Felix Jones' ability still on the board ... and then focus on a wide receiver with the 28th pick. That position is deep enough that they can hold off for a bit.

Also Considered: Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State; Ray Rice, RB, Rutgers; Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech
