In a (not at all) surprising development, Charles Barkley said something that people might find to be a little controversial, especially in the District. The all-about-fun Washington Wizards have recently stirred the pot by lobbing some smack talk in the direction of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who just happen to be their first round playoff opponents. Barkley didn't feel that riling up one of the league's best players was a smart move, and said so during his weekly TNT conference call.
"I think the Washington Wizards have got to be the dumbest team in the history of civilization."
"I think for them to rile up LeBron, who's the second-best player we've got in the NBA . . . I think that's just stupid," Barkley said. "I thought [the Wizards] had a chance to win that series. I don't think that any more."

I get where Charles is coming from here, but he's going to the extreme with it. I mean, you don't exactly want to give LeBron any extra motivation to beat you in the playoffs the way he's done to the Wizards in each of the last two seasons. But at the same time, this is who the Wizards are. DeShawn Stevenson was able to get into LeBron's head the last time these two teams met, and it actually helped the Wizards get a victory.
Charles Barkley may have a point when he says that you don't want to rile up LeBron James. But the Wizards may feel that the only way to beat the King and his Cavs is to distract him with mind games like these. Either way, we'll find out just how smart -- or stupid -- the Wizards are soon enough, as the playoffs get started on Saturday.

To criticze is an easy task ; Barkley last year predicted that Dallas was going to whip GS bad and as far as I remembered Barkley called them midgets and GS went to beat Dallas in the series ;So, he is the dumb here and the Wizards will make sure that he is wrong, again.

What does Barkley know about "dumb" or playoff basketball? He is a moron and never won a championship. He has bragged about losing $10,000,000 gambling. He weighs over 300 pounds, which says something about his lack of self-discipline.

You gotta love that Barkley. At times you have to take his words with a grain of salt. Last year during the Golden State Warriors/Dallas Mavericks 1st rd. playoff game, Barkley was slamming the Warriors, the San Francisco Bay Area, or anything to do with the Bay Area. But it was all in fun and the fans here enjoy dishing it back to him.
But I have to agree with Barkley on this one. I don't think during playoff time that the Wizards should fire up the Cavs bulletin board. It was said and with that, let see how James and the Cavs react to the smack the Wiz dished out.
Are the Wiz the dumbest team in the history of civilization? If they win the series, they may not.

And we're supposed to care what Barkley says because? Being one of the biggest fools in the NBA, he's got little room to talk trash about anyone.

Breaking News: AOL Fanhouse says some of the dumbest things. To critique Michael Wilbon because when he was asked about Sean Taylor's death he replied, "I am not the least bit surprised" is assinine. The man spoke what his true opinion was, which is allegedly what we want, and then he gets blasted for it. The only thing more ridiculous is the fact I wasted three minutes of my life posting this that I can never get back.

Oh, please. LeBron wasn't going to give his best before the trash talking? Admittedly, most trash talkers are uncreative and boring, but I doubt the talk has any effect on the games.

Charles is not a moron...His schtick for saying outlandish and controversial things has helped him get, and keep jobs, get gigs on shows and made you go to this link to see what he had said. It helps Charles to make more more, and gamble more money than most of will make in 5 years time. I repeat, Charles is not a moron.
It has been noted this year, that folks who take special interest in riling LeBron gives him a special incentive to "get up in your face", and that includes the fans who took the time to mock him on the court. Thrash talking is part of the game, but we like it more when a player makes you eat your words. Wizards, you lunch is about to be served. Bon Apetit

Well he actually has a point, whenever someone gets him riled up (ie Toronto with Chris Bosh's cousin) he simply torches the team. I believe this will provide all the fire that he needs to led his team to a sweep of the Wizards.

I agree with King Charles. Making Lebron made does not make sense. However, the Cavs are not a very good team and the Wizzards are a live oponent and should dispatch the Cavs. The Cavs need a supporting cast for the Cavs to successfully return to the finals. Ben Wallace has been a major disappointment. One and out for the Cavs!
