Phillies and Mets fans are making us look like geniuses for naming their teams rivalry as the new hotness of the Major Leagues. First Phillie fans booed Jose Reyes for being okay after slamming his head into Chase Utley's knee on Friday night and then on Saturday there was an epic brawl on the first base side of Citizen's Bank Park that actually stopped the game before being settled.
Enrico Campitelli of the FanHouse and the 700 Level was on the scene.
I'm not sure what it looked like on television but the hostility in the stands was certainly palpable. The game itself was even held up briefly late in the game on Saturday as a moron in a hideous Mets Dykstra jersey threw haymakers at a rival fan. That would be the faux-Nails in the above photo being escorted from the game in handcuffs. This isn't meant to indict Mets fans, it takes two (or more) to tango, after all, and drunken Phillie fans are no less deserving of blame than drunken Met ones.
