No one questions whether Oregon running back Jonathan Stewart is good enough to make an impact as a rookie, but there are questions -- and they grew louder this week -- of whether he'll be healthy enough to contribute as a rookie.Stewart recently had surgery on his big toe, and although all indications are that he'll be healthy in time for the start of training camp, turf toe is serious business for a running back.
The Carolina Panthers, however, clearly felt that he was worth the risk, and Adam Schefter reported on NFL Network that Carolina's team doctor was the one who performed the toe surgery. If the doc gave Stewart a clean bill of health, he should be a good one.
