Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wanted to add an Arkansas running back, and even if this isn't the Arkansas running back who would have been his first choice, Felix Jones will still make Jerry Jones happy.The question, though, is whether running back was really a need for the Cowboys. Yes, Julius Jones is gone and Marion Barber is not under contract, but realistically, Barber is going to be a Cowboy in 2008, and with Barber as the starter, running back seems more like a luxury for the Cowboys than a need.
Throw in the fact that the Cowboys passed on Rashard Mendenhall in order to select Felix Jones, and I don't like this pick very much at all.

I disagree with you. Felix Jones will provide the outside threat we've been looking for. Marion Barber is not that kind of back, and his weakness was exposed in the playoff loss to New York. He was flat out worn out by the second half, which meant that Dallas desperately needed to draft a speedy back to complement Marion. Running back was absolutely the priority in this draft. I give Jerry Jones a Grade A for this pick. And the Jenkins pick was right on the money as well. Nice work Cowboys.

I agree with Spokane. An above average, complimentary runner to ANY great running like Marion is a must in the NFL these days. Not lnly for endurance, but as back up for injury - especially the way Barber lowers his head and welcomes the hits. I also agree with kc. Mendenhall is OBVIOUSLY a better choice.

I don't think you realize how good Felix really is. He was so behind Darren McFadden, people had blinders on as far as Felix was concerned. The difference between Darren and Felix is that Darren shoves it right down your throat and Felix runs around you and extremely fast I might add. Felix is so quick, I don't mean straight ahead speed (that he has too), I mean he can run around you three times before you have figured out he is scooting down the field towards the end zone. I think you will have to eat your words about Felix, I really think he is better than Darren and I am a big Darren McFadden fan, but the truth is the truth. Whooooooo Pig Soooooie, Go Hogs Go......
