With a number of attractive players on the board such as OT Jeff Otah or WR Devin Thomas, the Eagles decided the package Carolina gave them to be a better option.
The Eagles now have twelve picks in this year's draft and I wouldn't be surprised if they do some maneuvering to get back into the first round.
It remains to be seen how the Birds 2008 draft will unfold but this early trade seems to be a tremendous value win for the Eagles.

4. Rick, check around on the internet; there's a few links to footage of Otah owning Chris Long when Pitt played Virginia. Otah's good; let's just hope he makes it through traning camp, etc., without getting injured. Or hope that the Panthers play St. Louis every game...

5. Yeah well we aren't playing the Rams every game. I just think it was a steep price to pay for an OT that hasn't taken a pro snap yet

6. the eagles once again prove that they are idiots. I could see helping out an afc team that you do not have to compete against, but helping out an nfc team again (dallas last year) is just plain stupid. and what did the eagles get for giving up this year's pick? a second rounder that they threw away on a dl no one's heard of. panthers got the most out of this deal.

7. Every year I wait for the draft and every year its seems the eagles think they are the smartest in the room. I watched the Cowboys get 2 players who will help right away. The Redskins improved themselves and the Giants won the superbowl last year so who cares what they do. The Eagles trade a 4th round pick for a stiff RB from Miami, yet we could have drafted Mendenhall or Felix Jones. I'm sick of all the spindoctors saying this is a good day...I guess 8-8 doesn't need improvement.
