Yesterday, I went to the Texans draft party. Texans fans were happy with the trade down in the first round to acquire two more picks, but were generally disappointed in the Virginia Tech left tackle Duane Brown-who? choice in the first. A brief but good summary of the pick can be found here, and more Texans draft analysis will come later.
At the draft party, most Texans fans were happy with the announcement of the new Texans Cheerleaders. Above is a picture of them when they first learned they were on the squad after the final day of tryouts, and the video below shows their dancing introduction to the fanbase. You will like the video if you like watching cheerleaders dance. The SI swimsuit cheerleader twins are back, and I've been told that there are also sisters who are not twins on the squad.

As the video shows, the Texans are asking you to help pick the last cheerleader spot on HoustonTexans.com next week.
If you want to see more video footage of the cheerleader tryouts, watch the video below and check out the Texans cheerleader page (warning autoplay music).
It's hard for a team to get more of a national fanbase, especially when they haven't had much success and tend not to draft high profile, flashy college players. So, I suppose one way marketing can attract fans is to promote their cheerleaders, as they are one of Texas' best natural resources.

2. How having Miss USA Crystale Stewart giving the Texans fans a talk about her road to Miss Universe in Vietnam this summer?

3. C'mon Stephanie, give us a break on the Cheerleader crap. Lets talk about the picks for a change. I was befuddled about the No. 1 pick, but in hindsight it seems that the coaches had their sights on this guy for a while after having had extensive interviews with him of which I am not privy, so maybe they know something I don't. Thus I will have to give the coaches a pass on any critique until training camp on this guy. I believe that the NFL network and ESPN guys feel much the same as most of them were all pretty generous in their reviews on the rest of this years draft class for the Texans. I was much happier with the later picks myself and also glad that management managed to salvage another pick this year without giving up anymore of next years in the process. On the whole a pretty fair day for the Texans in my view.

4. C'mon Gere, it takes a while to put together the draft stuff. As I said in the post, more Texans draft analysis will come later. Soonishly. A lot.
I don't like talking draft until I see the class in its entirety. And I was busy yesterday. And my dog ate my homework.
I'm going to be at the Texans draft luncheon on Tuesday, so if I get any info from that, I will be sure to share.
And in some ways, this cheerleader post is a partial draft post. The fans at the draft party weren't really thrilled with the first pick. The story of the Texans draft was getting a guy that a lot of fans weren't familiar with unless they understood that the Texans were focused on drafting fast athletic linemen, and that lineman that didn't fit that scheme, were off the board.
Thanks for reading and commenting, and check back in a bit for more Texans stuff.
