Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2008 Draft Picks:20. Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
58. Dexter Jackson, WR/KR, Appalachian State
83. Jeremy Zuttah, OG, Rutgers
115. Dre Moore, DT, Maryland
160. Josh Johnson, QB, San Diego
175. Geno Hayes, ILB, Florida State
238. Cory Boyd, RB, South Carolina
The Good: The Buccaneers found the best player available at a position of need in the first round -- always a good thing -- and found some much-needed speed in the second. Then they did well to address both the offensive and defensive lines and even took a flier on a project quarterback, which is sure to make Jon Gruden happy.
The Bad: Gruden might compare Talib to Charles Woodson, but he comes with baggies ... uh, I mean baggage. Yeah, baggage. So taking Talib over Mike Jenkins, who went 25th to the Cowboys, is a bit of a gamble. Plus, while Dexter Jackson is super-fast, he's no guarantee at receiver, and the Bucs took a pass on Limas Sweed to trade down. Finally, this team needs another quarterback like New York City needs another pothole.
The Grade: B. Overall, it's not a bad draft, so long as Talib stays out of trouble. They're showing a lot of faith in their current receiving corps, though, which fans aren't going to like much.

Cory Boyd is going to turn some heads in a positive way in Tampa Bay. Like another great Tampa running back named Warrick Dunn, Cory Boyd has the heart of a champion and will give his all for the team he plays on. If everyone playing football played with the heart that he plays with then they would achieve great things and the sky is the limit to what they'll end up doing over the course of a career. If Coach Spurrier would have used Cory Boyd more in this years past Vanderbilt game it would have perhaps made the difference between winning and losing that game. If we had won that game we would have finished 7-5 and would have been ivited to a bowl game. Who knows, that five game losing streak might not have occurred had we not started the downward spiral versus Vandy. Regardless, Cory Boyd is a very good football player that will help Tampa Bay if given the chance. His personal experiences in life are also incredible and what he has had to go through in life to get to where he is is amazing. Reminds me also of Warrick Dunn and his life's story and how he's turned out.

Dave, you sound as if you think that a QB is a QB & that's that. Tain't so, my friend. They come in different sizes, shapes, speeds & an assortment of other distinguishing characteristics. JJ appears to have such a high rating in so many of the categories that pertain to quality QBing that he may end up being the steal of the entire NFL 2008 draft. Because of the caliber of his competition to date, we may not see much of him for a couple of years, but Garcia should be good for that much longer, don't you think?
