Now that we've recovered from the post-2008 NFL draft hangover, what better way to get back in the swing of things than to talk about the 2009 NFL draft?Tom Marino, the longtime NFL scout who is now the lead NFL analyst for Scout.com, has a 2009 mock draft that lists Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis as the No. 1 overall pick. From people I spoke with at the NFL scouting combine, most of whom were surprised that Laurinaitis had decided to return to Columbus for his senior year, the general consensus is that Laurinaitis enters the 2008 season as the top prospect. Here's the rest of Marino's top 10, but click the link to read his always solid analysis.
2. Malcolm Jenkins, Ohio State, CBObviously, a lot can change. A year ago most people thought Brian Brohm would be drafted ahead of Matt Ryan. For now, however, Laurinaitis is the favorite.
3. Andre Smith, Alabama, OT
4. Beanie Wells, Ohio State, RB
5. Gerald McRath, Southern Mississippi, LB
6. Nic Harris, Oklahoma, S
7. Percy Harvin, Florida, WR
8. Max Unger, Oregon, OT
9. Michael Oher, Mississippi, OT
10. Sean Lee, Penn State, LB

1. Three bucks in the first four picks? I'll take it...

2. Sean Lee will not be drafted, he tore his ACL a few weeks ago and will redshirt this year, coming back for the Nittany Lions in 2009 (luckily for Larynghitis, who finally doesn't have to worry about a Penn State LB outperforming him like Paul Posluszny and Dan Connor have over the past two years, and like Sean Lee would have this year).
