The Clemens Siege Continues: Now Featuring John Daly and Brutus Beefcake!

When it rains, it pours and for Roger Clemens the forecast seems to be a storm a day. It's not a high pressure system causing the nasty weather but the New York Daily News. The paper seems to dig up information about a new woman or two every day, heaping more and more humiliation on the Rocket. Who's the contestant in today's episode of Roger and Me?

Why, it's Paulette Dean Daly, ex-wife of John Daly and the recipient of financial support from Clemens according to the paper. She admitted to a friendship with the pitcher although she had no comment beyond that. Imagine how much less we'd know about Roger Clemens today if that simple little phrase, no comment, just passed his lips.

The couple is said to have met via Daly's job with the Bob Hope Classic golf tournament. She organizes parties for the event, parties that have seen Clemens as an avid participant.
News reports have described Clemens as being in attendance as recently as two years ago, dancing around the party with an 8-foot-long boa constrictor around his neck.
That tightening feeling around his throat isn't a new feeling, at least.

It's not just the News that's pursuing leads in this story. Up in his former Boston stomping grounds, the Boston Herald tracked down Barbara Leslie, a former waitress, who spun her own tale about the Rocket.

He made a clumsy advance at her, which she turned down, and called him a poor tipper. And, like Daly, Clemens isn't her only brush with celebrity. Leslie is married to Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake who might want to challenge the Rocket to a cage match and shave his head.

Clearly it doesn't matter if Clemens had sex with one woman, five woman or a hundred women outside his marriage. It doesn't even matter if he's ever cheated. He wouldn't be the first athlete to do it, certainly. At some point, though, you have to wonder how much Clemens wants to go through and put his family through so that he can pursue what looks like a dog of a defamation case against Brian McNamee.
