NASCAR fans expected a wreck like this one week ago when the Sprint Cup Series visited Talladega Superspeedway, but at Richmond? Nahhhhh.
It all started on lap 230 when J.J. Yeley squeezed up the track on the backstretch in front of Carl Edwards. As cars behind them started to check up, Patrick Carpentier slammed the inside wall and ricocheted back into the pack of cars just a few laps removed a restart. The carnage begins in the video below:
The list of drivers involved in the mess included: Kurt Busch, J.J. Yeley, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Carpentier, Jeff Burton, David Gilliland, David Reutimann, and many others I'm probably missing.
The incident put the red flag out for a considerable period while safety crews cleaned the track and got the used up race cars on to the tow hook. Carpentier, who took quite a number of brutal hits, walked away unscathed.

1. I feel Kyle turned his car into JR,because he knew he was loseing and also because he has done that before.I think NASCAR,really needs to place a collar on both the bush boys! They have continually showed bad sportsmanship,on and off the track. As for Dale JR ,you go and keep up the great raceing!I owe you a debt of thanks because in 99 you came to Johnstown,Pa,at that time my daughter had been in a wreck and confined to a wheelchair.she met you and you encouraged her to get through her rehab and walk again.God bless you JR!! sincerely Beth

2. Sorry, but if you watch the replay over and over everytime they show it, you will see that Kyle Bush kept his line and that JR. came down into Kyle. It's was pure and simple racing, that's it. You can't hold the top groove with the speed that JR had without having something happen, and it did he couldn't hold the line and had to come down and unfortunately it was into Kyle Bush.

3. There was no way in hell that the accident was jr. fault, when there is a turn both drivers are soppose to turn, thats why it looked like it was Jr.'s fault. He should have won this one, but since Busch was SUCKING at this point in time, he had to do something about it, i mean i do agree its just racing, but come on everyone knows Jr. had it, and needed it the most! : ) Still a die hard JR. fan.

4. Shame on Nascar for promoting Kyle Busch's bad behavior and lies. Kyle said something close to "I've got him now" on his radio when coming up on Dale, Jr. I looked over at my husband and said "he's going to take Jr out". It was no surprise to us when it happened. We know Kyle's history. The surprise would have been if Kyle had raced Jr like Mark Martin raced Kyle in the last lap. What a class act Martin is! But no, Kyle being the ..., well, showing who he is by how he races, needs to win and will do so with whatever tactics he chooses because he seems to be Nascar's #1 guy right now, and Nascar protects their #1 baby. There's plenty of times he should have been penalized and hasn't, he just smiles and spins the right tale. Just so you never admit to anything, you'll be ok. Nascar can still back you. Yeah, Jr said what he said about Kyle being able to take him out before that and didn't, but I believe Jr, having not seen the tape to see that Kyle turned his wheels into him, being the gentleman that he is, gave Kyle the benefit of a doubt. (And I love the spin Daryll Waltrip puts on it-I say that with sarcasm-Message to Waltrip: you have no love for Earnhardt Sr or Jr, you pretend to but it's very easy to see what's truly in your heart, so enough already!) Jr's mature enough to know that you need to see the replay before giving your opinion. And as far as Denny Hamlin saying what difference does it make that he got black flagged-that he'd already lost the race and it didn't much matter where he finished at that point to him-well he assisted his team mate Kyle with having the ability to mess with Jr, and allowing Kyle to restart up against Jr after a caution. And as history has shown with Kyle, if he's close enough to take you out, he will. He's been driving like a cheat for a long time and knows Nascar isn't going to do a thing about it. I guess Nascar thinks it's a good story, added excitement, will keep everyone tuned in. I keep hoping that maybe someone will race Kyle like he races them, and push him out of the race(s). Kyle doesn't deserve to be a Champion. Message to Kyle: you're a good enough driver that you don't need to get added advantages from driving roguishly. Clean up your act, you might gain a lot more fans. Message to Nascar: keep assisting the cheat drivers and let's see how long people stay tuned in. What is it with sports these days, that they just can't allow the true winners the win?, that they have to promote and assist cheaters with their quest for the big one? I've seen it in football and baseball, to a fault. I've stopped watching those sports with any true dedication. Now racing has become the same for me. Why can't you just let the true winner win, no help from the referees/the powers that be?! Just let the true winner win! Is it because of betting? Is it all fixed? It makes me wonder. But most of all, it disgusts me.

5. To Lori Alderink's response:
my take on it is that Jr kept his line (you have to consider the angle of the camera), that Kyle turned his front wheels to the right, thereby going up and clipping into Jr enough to push him/slow him up so he could get by. That's what I see when watching the replay over and over! I don't think Kyle intended for Jr to totally wipe out, just tap him enough to get him loose, slow him up so Kyle could get by him. I've seen Kyle do this over and over throughout his career. He's a bad sport. There's enough good drivers in that bunch that have said the same, and when you have a high # of drivers concurring, well there's a real good chance it's true what's being said of him. He's cunning. Someone should give back to him what he's been dishing out. Oh, but they would be black flagged for that, I'm sure! They're not the "golden boy" for this year.

6. The sad part is Junior was up against Kyle and Denny. Not just Kyle, I knew sitting from my seat that Jr was going to win when he had the lead with 6 laps remaining. Kyle would never had caught him if Denny didn't casue the caution so find someone else to blame. GO KYLE BUSCH!

7. KYLE DID NOT WRECK JUNIOR ON PURPOSE.......
PEOPLE PLEASE IT'S JUST GOOD OLE FASHION RACING,SO CAN YOU JUS GO AND CRY US A WHISKEY RIVER NOW FOR JUNIOR......NO PUN INTENTED....

8. Look it is simple as this Kyle Bush is a sore looser ever since the commentators have been giving him so much press he thinks he is the it factor. There are so many good racers out on these tracks besides him.But they get no credit,as for what happened at Richmond,Kyle Bush has had it out for junior since Hendricks let him go that is known fact because of Kyle's own big mouth. He has come right out and said he would wreck anyone that got in his way that's what he does best.nothig is going to be done about his big mouth or his wrekless ways until he really hurts some one.But as always junior blames no one and takes it with a grain of salt.As a true champion would, nothing wrong with his attituide just one of the boys.Kyle Bush is simply out for revenge, because he is not man enough to let it lay.He was asked to leave, it was a team decision get over it drivers are fired and move on to new teams all the time. His attitude is one of the worst I have ever seen, now he is out to prove something and it's going to get some one hurt or really angry. I thik Steve Wallace said it best he's a little girl always crying.Junior just proves over and over again what a good sport he is and how much he loves what he does never a complainer, and never quick to point fingers. That's what happens when you are a real man. always a Dale Jr.fan

9. I keep reading that some other driver should pay back KYLE BUSH for what he does to other drivers, while racing. All of you have forgotten that DALE #3 SENIOR used to do the samething. SO did CALE YARBOROUGH,BOBBY ALLISON, DAVE PEARSON and OTHERS.I guess many of you are not old enough to remember.NASCAR has allowed it back than and they are and will allow it now and tomorrow. RUBBING IS RACING and that was DE3 MAIN TRADEMARK. Nascar has gotten much bigger since than and not smaller and they owed a big thanks to DALE E. SENIOR.
All the whining about KYLE BUSH or whoever, it's not going to get all of you anywere. YES kyle caused the wreck but i'm sure he did not intent to.
Some of you keep ragging about BUSH turning his wheels to the right. That is a tecnic invented not by KYLIE,GIRLY KYLE OR whatever other slam he gets.
The wheels right turning was started before KYLE BUSH was even born and RICHARD PETTY begun racing.
It is done to slow down the car next side to whoever
or getting it loose or both.
KYLE intended to loose or slow junior and that's
RACING AT IT'S BEST. OLD STYLE NASCAR/NAZCAR LIKE SOME LIKE TO CALL THE RACKET. YES he may have it in for the HENDRICKS DRIVERS AND RH himse, but JUNIOR
HAS JUST GOTTEN THERE after he left. Why wreck junior, what's he got to do? ANY REVENGE TEORY,would be much more VALID if he wrecked johnson, gordon or smears. That would send a bigger and tougher message to the entire HMS racket exspecially wrecking the first two.
All of you screaming about another driver to payback kyle with in kind and rough driving, igot the only and only driver for you all that could do it succesfully : TONY STEWART.
And that will never happen as long they are teammates, but than, hmmmmm .......... all or many of you will be bitching and whining against STEWART
even tough it's already popular custom.
Works for me.

10. OMG, this thread had NOTHING to do with JR & Kyle but yet EVERY blog or message board about that race turns to that crappy wreck. HUH, where's the people who should me more upset about the way Waltrip snapped & intentionally tried to royally fubar Mears?! I mean c'mon! The world doesn't revolve around Kyle nor JR, but both are damn good drivers who WILL be duking it out for the top two spots at the end of the season.

11. I have been reading these blogs for a while now...interesting. What amazes me--actually it doesn't--is that this post was not about the incident between Jr. and Kyle. It does not suprise me, though. The arguement was going to be made. Honestly, I would have loved to see Jr. win...would have been spectacular. At the same time I must say that Kyle was loose, he drives that way and we all know it. Yes, he is rowdy and says some things that may cause controversy...that does not make him Nascar's Golden Boy or a poor sport. It makes him young and immature. He is a good driver...thank you to the entry about the great man himself, the Intimidator. Talk about wild and rowdy!! Racing is racing and passion brings out some bold racing...the race is to win. In any case, my heart is with Smoke and his third championship in 2008. Nice to meet all of you. Racing20Mom

12. APPARENTLY, NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE BIG ONE AT RICHMOND,why?. Because it involved a bunch of low and middle tear drivers. Besize, the wreckage, is been overshadowed by the now big names in nascar.BUSHES, HAMSTER LITTLE E.
LATEST NEWS @ YAHOO.COM HOMEPAGE about the junior/bush accident. KYLE IS FRONT PAGE as the most hated driver in nascar. At last, a break for JG
and fans.BUSH now gets the secret service escort and police to walk around. The "junior nation of terrorist has replyed again their belligerant action in TALLADEGA 2007. Works for me.

16. HEY BOBO, i did not mean to hurt your feeling, the reality is the low/med. teer drivers, i learned it from a wortheless drag racer.SORRY, I should listened to my own advice which is: DISCARD anything
that any drag racer say because to many, BRAG RACING
(the spelling is correct)is an edited TV SHOW and not a sport or racing. You may have a defferent opinion about it. That's fine.

17. RACING 20 MOM,
I assume you are a TONY STEWART FAN and obviously junior also. There are some on these pages, but at times, they are hard to come across.(the fans that pull for both: 20/88.Seems like you also pull for KYLE B. Either way WELCOME to the fanhouse blogs.
At times TSTEWART might need your positive comments
on these pages(you may find in the future). At this moment all the bashing and hate is focused on KB AS
you may noticed. USUALLY TONY STEWART IS THE PUNCHBALL, so please stick around, SAME WELCOME FOR
REV. JIM ( IE the new files).Works for me. Take care.

18. Bobo,
Ouch is right! If low & middle teer drivers are those that have won championships in the past five years, then I guess every driver on the circuit would want to be considered a low or middle teered driver indeed!
That might just be one of the dumbest comments I have ever read, but like Ron said, "consider the source"!
And I am sorry, but I must defend my buddy Ron, yes the Drag Racer. How in the hell can you say Drag Racing is not a sport? How do you think most of these guys in NASCAR or "NAZYCAR" as you like to put it, got their start? Many were dirt track racers and yes, even drag racers. Drag racing is a very complex sport. Not only am I friends with Ron, but my brother in law has been drag racing for ten years. The amount of time he spends building his engines and cars blows me away, not to mention the money he has to put into them (and it's all his hard earned money). It is also much harder for a local dirt track racer to find sponsorship, no matter how good they are. There are no big Team Owners in Drag Racing. There is no "big money" in Drag Racing. Most of these guys do it for the love of the sport and spend their free time (what little they have) working & building their cars to race. They don't have the luxary of racing full-time, they have "real day jobs!"

19. And Anna,
Before you come on here to "scream" and berate me for my above comments, remember this, since you say it all the time.....if you can dish it out, then be prepared to take it! Attacking someone personally as you did Ron above, is uncalled for. Just because you didn't like what he had to say, you berate him and say that what he does isn't a sport so no one should listen to him. If anything, we should ALL listen to him. Most of the time, Ron's comments are right on and quite insightful. Can't say the same for yours. Instead of being a bully, why don't you consider actually commenting on the subjects at hand because the more you personally attack people, the more people who are going to come at you with guns a blazing!
And another thing, your posts get sent off into the "clouds" because they are offensive! Duh! You are either one of the dumbest people I have ever encountered, or you are just an angry person. Either way, EVERYONE is tired of it! So give it a rest! I am sure I speak for almost everyone that is a regular on here and for those who will become frequent regulars, that is unless you scare them off first!

20. anajoecrapmaster.. I am flattered that you dwell on my every word. It must be horrid sitting there waiting for my next post as I attempt to educate you on this great sport. So far though you don't seem to be getting it very well. Perhaps I could get you a tutor to help the process along. Anything to help.
