It's becoming a pretty easy formula to figure out in Chicago. When the White Sox are doing well, Ozzie Guillen spends his pre an post game media sessions cracking jokes and making the reporters around him laugh. When the team is losing, Ozzie goes on crazy diatribes and rants, cussing up a storm in front of the same reporters. Why does he do it? Well, mostly because he's insane, but also because he's partly hoping that by acting like a jackass, the media in the city will continue to focus on him instead of his players. So far during his tenure in Chicago, it's worked. So before the White Sox lost to the Blue Jays on Sunday to drop to 0-5 on their current road trip, Ozzie took some pre-emptive measures with the media. This time focusing on how the Cubs get all the attention.
''Right now, everyone in Chicago is making lineups, 'Call up this guy, call up that guy,''' Guillen said. ''If we had 50 people allowed on the roster, we could do that. That's what ticks me off about Chicago fans and Chicago media -- they forget pretty quick. A couple of days ago, we were the [bleep]ing best [bleep] in town, now we're [bleep].''
Asked why that is, Guillen pulled no punches.
''Because maybe the manager is an ass[bleep],'' he replied.Something tells me now isn't the time to show this to Ozzie Guillen.
Guillen said that the only way the perception of the Sox ever would change is by winning, but even after they did in 2005, it hasn't taken long for it to wear off.
''We won it a couple years ago, and we're horse[bleep],'' Guillen said. ''The Cubs haven't won in 120 years, and they're the [bleep]ing best. [Bleep] it, we're good. [Bleep] everybody. We're horse[bleep], and we're going to be horse[bleep] the rest of our lives, no matter how many World Series we win. We are the bitch of Chicago. We're the Chicago bitch. We have the worst owner -- the guy's got seven [bleep]ing rings, and he's the [bleep]ing horse[bleep] owner.''
Ozzie's had a lot of ridiculous tirades in his time, but this one is rather stupid. I'm a White Sox fan, so I'm more than familiar with the fact the Cubs get more attention in Chicago, but at the moment they deserve it. They have the highest scoring offense in the league, and they're battling with the Cardinals and Brewers atop the NL Central. Sure, they're 1.5 games out of first just like the White Sox are in the AL Central, but unlike the Sox, they're actually over .500.
White Sox fans haven't forgotten that 2005 World Series trophy. It's just, unlike Cubs fans, when our team sucks we aren't happy. Right now we see a team that's hitting .232/.321/.398, has lost eight of it's last 11, and generally just looks lifeless. In other words, a team that's playing like horse[bleep]. So we're sorry if we like to deal in reality, Oz. If you want to live in fantasy land, maybe Lou Piniella has an opening for a bench coach.

1. Ozzie, the only way White Sox become more popular than the Cubs, Get Players who want to beat the Cubs, guys who feel for the fans, you got to have that Southside attitude. Challange your team to meet the Cubs in the World Series and brag that you will beat them in 4 straight.
