Red Sox - Yankees Rivalry Gone Too Far: Vehicular Homicide

I don't want to make any "It's all fun and games until someone gets run over by a car" jokes, because someone is dead. And I don't want to focus on the Red Sox-Yankee "rivalry" when the real issue is the tragic passing of a Nashua, New Hampshire native.

But the reality is that this -- the alleged vehicular homicide committed by a Yankees fan on a Red Sox fan -- is the point where America needs to stand up and tell these Yankee and Red Sox fans to get a life and to get over their ridiculously annoying squabble that they think actually transcends the playing field. Because someone is dead now, and that is beyond absurd.
A woman accused of running down a man in her car after a Red Sox-Yankees argument in a bar never hit her brakes as she accelerated toward the small group he was in, a prosecutor said Monday.

"She never braked, and she accelerated at a high speed for about 200 feet. She went directly at this group of people," prosecutor Susan Morrell said of Ivonne Hernandez, who is charged with reckless second-degree murder in the death early Friday of Matthew Beaudoin, 29.

[...]Authorities won't describe the argument beforehand in Slade's Food & Spirits, but witnesses said it heated up when Hernandez identified herself as a New York Yankees fan. Nashua, 45 miles northwest of Boston, is Red Sox country.
Think about how blank-ing ridiculous that is for a second. Apparently, the group of Red Sox fans began chanting "Yankees suck!" at Hernandez, prompting her to drive really fast at the group, purportedly expecting them to move out of the way of her speeding car.

Drunk people do stupid things all time time. And Red Sox and Yankees fans are beyond annoying. And heretofore, the only collateral damage from this played out rivalry was some chunks of concrete and the rest of us miserable, suffering baseball fans. But we are talking about a human life here.

Please, Yankees and Red Sox fans -- and I know that this doesn't apply to every single one of you, but the insane attitude of hatred is at least there in some small amount -- grow up. Seriously. Someone's dead. Just stop.
