This is just a great story: Doug Davis, who underwent surgery on April 10 after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, has been declared cancer-free after a CT scan on Thursday revealed that the disease had not spread. In fact, he's feeling so good right now that he's expected to make a minor league rehab start with Triple-A Tucson on Saturday. After that, he'll probably need just one more start in the minors before coming off the disabled list and returning to the majors.
It should come as no surprise that he's making such a quick recovery; this is the same guy who kept it together mentally after learning of his diagnosis to get through spring training without skipping a beat, and then visited his teammates in the clubhouse to show off his scar just days after the operation. They just don't get much tougher than this.

1. Pretty funny they dont get much tougher than this, try being a mother of 6 children going through a divorce and having thyroid cancer without the pocket of a baseball player, think again

2. Thanks for updating this story.
And Myrna, if that is what you are going through, I tip my hat your way. Tough doesn't begin to explain that.

3. I have thyroid cancer, too. My surgery was 4 days after him. If you are to get cancer, this is the one to get. 97% survival rate and trust me, I had it long before I was diagnosed. It does not affect your everyday habits. I was able to work through mine too. There are just about no side effects from it. I showed off my scar at work 24 HOURS after my surgery!!! The worst part is the low iodine diet afterwards. Thank God it hasn't affected to me yet-10 days into it. I take the radioactive iodine on Wednesday and will later find out if it has spread. It's really not as bad as everybody thinks.
