Witness Mike Ribeiro's two-hand chop to the chest of Chris Osgood after last night's 2-1 Wings victory. This was blatant and could have caused serious injury.
While the Stars will claim Osgood butt-ended one of their players, it doesn't justify this action, nor will it save Ribeiro from a suspension.
Still, given the NHL's leniency towards star players and playoff suspensions, I bet Ribeiro will get one game, at most.

1. show the whole video - you selected on a part of it. You didnt show osgood butt ending ribeiro as he went past him in the end of the game. Now I dont condone what ribeiro did but lets show the whole story..

3. Gee, Mike Ribeiro is a gutless twerp. As a Bruins fan who will never forget him writhing in pain to get a whistle at the end of a playoff game only to get up with a large grin on his face, count me as unsurprised.

4. Meh, I'm with Bob McKenzie on this one. Osgood's butt-ending attempt was just as dangerous, if not more, than Robeiro's slash (especially considering Osgood's protective equipment compared to a skater's). If you're going to suspend one of them for the cheap shot, suspend them both and keep the series from getting out of hand. Or else just let it go, since no damage was done; Campbell is just gutless enough to sweep in under a rug and not do anything, to either guy.

5. Osgood's cheap shot deserves a suspension if Ribero gets one, With Video replay the player that retaliates doesn't have to be the only one punished. A Butt end to the Face has alot more potential to cause a severe injury than a slash to a goaltenders chest protector. If it can stand up to a Al Mcginnes slap shot it can protect him from that slash.
The comment from the Boston Fan was just sour grapes...
What Black and Gold and plays golf in May?????

6. Osgood made that look alot worse than it was. Sure it was a two handed slash, but it didn't look all that bad.

7. If Ribero gets a suspension then they should match up and take out Osgood also. With video replay the NHL has the chance to make sure that the instigator gets punished as well. Osgood thought he was slick with that Butt end to the face. His BS excuse that he was defending Nick Lindstrom was hogwash. The Butt end was much more dangerous than a slash to a chest protector designed to hold up to an Al McGinnes slap shot.
The Bruin Fans comment was just sour grapes... Whats Black and Gold and plays golf in May????

8. Fines for both or a one game suspension for Ribeiro and very hefty fine for Osgood. Why does your video not show the butt end to the face?
"I was just trying to stand out there to make sure Nicklas Lidstrom didn't get run because I could see two guys coming," Osgood said. "Whether I hit him or not, it was an accident." Like all of Turco's moves during the game were accidents? Just asking, 'cause Turco got a warning and Osgood's getting the benefit of the doubt. All of the stick play between both goalies COULD have been accidents...
Video replay shows a slash to his chest, this morning all Osgood's quotes say that he was hit in the side, during last night's post game interview he said he was hit in the back. Does Osgood know where he was hit, or did he have to watch video replay to make sure?(http://www.cbc.ca/sports/player/ 8min in PostGame May 10)

9. Get Real.. The butt end to the face that Osgood threw at Ribero is much more dangerous than a two hand slash to a chest protector that is designed to stand up to a Al McGinnes slap shot. His BS excuse that he was trying to protect Nick Lindtrom was weak. Now the NHL can send a message of punishing the instigator not just the player who retaliates.
For that Cheap shot Osgood deserved the shot and a couple of more.
For that Bruin Fan thats just Sour Grapes!

10. Fines for both OR 1 game suspension for Ribeiro and hefty fine for Osgood.
Where DID Osgood get hit anyway? Video replay shows the chest, quotes from Osgood in all of today's papers say his side. Last night's post-game interview on CBC he said he was hit in the back. Does Osgood even know?
"I was just trying to stand out there to make sure Nicklas Lidstrom didn't get run because I could see two guys coming," Osgood said. "Whether I hit him or not, it was an accident." About as much an accident as Turco's stick was on any Detroit player - right?
Where the heck did my original comment go?

11. Here are my questions:
1. Where did Ozzie get hit? Video replay shows the chest, quotes from Osgood in every paper this morning say his side, during last night's post-game interview he said that he was hit in the back. Does he even know?
2. Osgood admits to trying to get in the way of Ribeiro: "I was just trying to stand out there to make sure Nicklas Lidstrom didn't get run because I could see two guys coming," Osgood said. "Whether I hit him or not, it was an accident."
Was it the same kind of accident as Turco's active stick during the game? How is Osgood the only goalie getting the benefit of the doubt and referee protection in this series?
My suggestion is either fines for both or a one game suspension for Ribeiro and a fine for Osgood. If only Ribeiro is given punishment, then the continuation of the slanted calls of the first game continues.
Hopefully third time's a charm in trying to get something posted on this page.
