I'll be honest: I can't figure this out. It's folly to try and make sense of anything that comes out of Ozzie Guillen's mouth, but just what is usually good Chicago Sun-Times beat reporter Joe Cowley trying to get across with this story? That people are racist? Well, no kidding; West Virginia's primary voters say hello. Is it that Guillen suffers a double-standard? Maybe: ''Believe me, if I got a DUI, a lot of people would ask for me to resign,'' he said. ''Tony got a slap on the wrist, but not because he's white and I'm Latino. Tony has been in this game for a long time. My situation is different because we have different personalities. But if I got caught, wow.OK, so there is a double-standard, but it's not because of race -- it's just because Tony La Russa is so well-liked? That's not really a double-standard. This makes no sense. Plus, we just got through like five paragraphs about how racism is well and alive, which, again, no kidding. Can someone please explain what Ozzie's trying to say? Because it's either a thoughtfully nuanced argument about race, or it's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. I can't figure out which, and it's driving me insane.''The other guy, 'Oh, he was just having fun and had bad luck.' Me? 'It's about time they caught him drinking and driving.' Not because I'm Latino, but because of who I am. That's just me. I can't make other people think that way about race, though, or listen to what I say.''

1. West Virginia primary voters are racist? Gee, nice way to stereotype (i.e., make generalizations).
So, in almost all of the primaries, Barack has gotten 90 percent of the black vote. Does that make those 90 percent "racists"? After all, a large number of one ethnic group voted for the candidate who shared such ethnicity. If your generalization works for white primary voters, then why not for the blacks?
Oh, I get it... if you don't vote Obama, you must be a racist. Winning Argument. Bravo.
Hypocrite. Idiot.

"I am scared of the blacks ..."
Hahaha. Nope. Not racist at all.

3. Ozzie is saying that 'good/nice guys' get more leway and breaks than 'jerks/assholes'.
He's right, and I'm fine with that.

4. Well, E, what Ozzie is basically saying is that while he knows some of the criticism towards him is because of his race, he prefers to pretend it's all his personality.

5. WHEN WEST VIRGINIA VOTES AGAINST BARACK OBAMA, THIS PREJUDICED, LIBERAL GUILT "SPORTS JOURNALIST" CALLS IT RACIST; BUT WHEN 90% OF BLACK VOTERS IN THE COUNTRY VOTE FOR OBAMA, THAT IS FINE AND DANDY?
BECAUSE OF LIBERAL IDIOTS LIKE EAMONN BRENNAN, PRESIDENT JOHN McCAIN WILL TAKE THE OATH OF OFFICE ON JANUARY 20. AND A GOOD THING TOO!

6. Racism is racism, no? If you are going to look at Hillary's overwhelming wins in West Virginia and call it due to "racism" (i.e., she would not have won if it were not for the white people refusing to vote for a black man), then you need to examine Obama's vote. If 90 percent of blacks vote for him, then - by your own analysis - isn't that because these blacks are voting based on color of skin as well? If the West Virginia returns show racism, why not look at all the returns. Look at the black vote. If you want to brand Hillary supporters as racists, then you need to analyze Obama's supporters in the same manner.
I am no Hillary supporter, by any means. However, for this idiot writer to say that her win was due to racism ....well, that is ignorant, uninformed, unverifiable and quite frankly nothing more than pure conjecture....
This guy owes West Virginians a huge apology. (By the way, from Nebraska...not a West Virginian; however, it really annoys me that this idiot decides to blatantly insult a large number of people who took the time to do nothing more than perform their civic duty).

7. F***ing Limbaugh trolls are even here on FanHouse?? Good God, the neocons are taking over sports now too?? I suppose they'll want to expand MLB into Iraq next.

8. Eamonn, any response to these criticisms? I typically find your posts funny and informative, but that WV comment was blatantly wrong. I think you owe an apology or explanation.

9. "F***ing Limbaugh trolls are even here on FanHouse?? Good God, the neocons are taking over sports now too?? I suppose they'll want to expand MLB into Iraq next."
I am a Democrat moron. How many Limbaugh fans would actually run to support Hillary Clinton? Think through before posting.
I agree with the last post --- Eamon you crossed the line. Apologize ASAP.

10. Eamonn gives us another shining example of why bloggers don't get much respect. The print media have editors to make sure that this kind of drivel does not get printed.

11. What does Hillary have to do with global warming? We are pretty sure that it does have a direct relation to PK...
