Gino Castignoli, the Red Sox fan who buried the David Ortiz jersey in the concrete while working as a construction worker at the new Yankee Stadium, may have left a few other items behind in his one day working at the site. Keith Olbermann reported last night on MSNBC that Castignoli has told friends that he also buried an official scorecard from the 2004 ALCS, which (do I really need to explain?) was the fateful series in which the Yankees lost to the Red Sox despite a 3-0 lead. Considered one of the greatest comebacks or choke-jobs (depending on your allegiances) in sporting history, the series allowed the Red Sox to go on to win their first World Series in 84 years.
The Yankees went through the trouble of unearthing the jersey (and allowing the Red Sox to auction it off for charity), but it'd be nearly impossible to find a single scorecard in all the tons of concrete that have already been laid ... and that's if Castignoli is telling the truth.
You see, that's the beauty of curses: they only exist if you think they do. Maybe Castignoli buried a scorecard, maybe he didn't, but millions of Yankees fans will now never know for sure. For instilling that sliver of doubt that will never go away, I have a hunch that Castignoli won't ever have to buy another drink no matter where he travels in Red Sox Nation.

THEY HAVE BIGGER PROBLEMS THAN THIS IDIOT TRYING TO JINX THEM, THEY JINXED THEMSELVES BUT ABONDONING HALLOWED GROUND! http://savethestadium.blogspot.com/2005/04/save-house-that-ruth-built-say-no-to.html
AND P.S.
WHAT THEY NEED IS a slap hitter or #2 that walks and steal basees constantly......
NOT another fly ball , line drive hitter I agree!@ Damon is NOT leadoff hitter anymore!!!
he's a numb3r #3 hitter and we have two of them already in Jeter NOT a #2 and Abreu
SOLUTION? TRADE DAMON!
I'm sorry Damon IS NOT A LEADOFF HITTER ANY MORE .270-15 HR, 75 RBI-12 SB under 380 OBP ? and we already have a 3 , 5 and 6 hitter all leftys too!
Two guys I think that would defenetely turn this team around and could be had and not too expensively are Willy Taveras and Mark Grudzielanek
they would add instant excitement to a sluggish offense especially Willy Taveras )reminesecent( of...............
TRADE DAMON NOW TO COLORADO!
..... IF THEY''LL TAKE HIM? ONE OF THE 3 CORNERS HAVE TO GO
...I SAY KEEP ABREAU AND MATSUI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
..........PACKAGE A JB COX OR EVEN A CHASE WRIGHT WHOM I LIKE... IF NEED BE...YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO USE THEM ANYWAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
YOU KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GO AFTER C.C. NEXT YEAR ANYWAY!
THE ONLY UNTOUCHABLES ARE JOBA, JETER AND HUGHES AS FAR AS I'M CONCERENED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is too funny.
Of course, if/when a new park is built for the Red Sox, you can bet the same thing will happen.

Trade Damon? Good luck - nobody wants Johnny Judas anymore. Maybe the new Curse of the Yankees started not with a buried jersey but with that trade. Seems to be when the bad luck really began.

as long as the yankees continue to lose, thats all that matters!! Curses, natural disasters, famon, disease, injury, stealing good players that turn into crap when they put on the pin-stripes--the rest of us dont care WHY they are losers, just that they ARE!!

The Sawx will never build another stadium. They don't have to. They have the oldest, beautiful stadium left.
DAMON lost his mojo when he moved to the empire. No hair, no beard, no soul.
I would have been stunned if he only buried the jersey. The Curse of Castignoli. We'll have to wait a while to see if it worked. Really the curse can only be proven by the yankees getting close to the world series and choking or having something freakish cause them to lose.
