It's Not Getting Better for Arizona

Sooner or later things have to start looking up for the Wildcats. Don't they?

Arizona decided not to play hardball, and gave Emmanuel Negedu the release he wanted from his National Letter of Intent to play at Arizona. There were no conditions on the release, so Negedu can go to any school he wishes.

Negedu says his top choices are Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Indiana and Memphis. The 6-7 forward was ranked the 40th best player by Rivals.com and the 71st best recruit by Scout.com. It's definitely another blow to an Arizona program that has been reeling for over a year.

As if that wasn't enough, the jewel of Arizona's recruiting class, Brandon Jennings, is still not qualified academically.
According to sources close to the situation, Jennings originally took the standardized test back when he was at Compton Dominguez (Calif.) and scored poorly on it. Since his arrival at Oak Hill, there has been a dramatic jump in his test score.

The NCAA is requiring Jennings to take the test again as a way to legitimize his score. It is unclear exactly how well Jennings will have to do on his retake to satisfy the NCAA. Sources maintain that Jennings will have two more opportunities to prove his score was legitimate.
Jennings still has time to qualify, but it does mean he can't go to Arizona early and get a jump on things. Jennings is considered the top point guard among high school seniors, and has a great sense of style.
