Kobe Bryant could just be making some sort of really in-depth analogy, and I am missing it, but it would seem, from his postgame press conference (you may watch the video here) that he is going to get flat out stinking drunk.Assuming, of course, that he consumes all the alcohol that he claimed he would. Obviously there was nothing fun about losing to the Celtics, and certainly nothing enjoyable about having to answer questions re: the same choke job. Which could explain Kobe's visible frustration after the game, when he was asked how the Lakers would "bounce back".
Whine about it tonight, a lot of wine, a lot of beer, a couple shots, maybe like 20 of them, digest it, get back to work tomorrow. Nothing you can do.Mamba -- who had an extremely quiet game, particularly after Paul Pierce shut him down after halftime -- also pointed out that there was nothing unfathomable about the loss, saying that he is a "realist" and that "It happened."
The other thing that happened? The Mamba and Co. could not step on the Celtics' collective neck. And Kobe knew it too, judging from his reaction to a question about going in "for the kill" and how the Lakers reacted.
Nothing. We just wet the bed. A nice big one, too, one of the ones you can't put a towel over. It was terrible. Nothing you can do about it. They played great in the third quarter, we played like crap. They pulled out a great win, now it's time to move on to the next one, period.Kobe's press conferences have been nothing short of entertaining during the Finals but while Game 3's was just funny, the visible, below-the-surface frustration tonight was way past palatable. I know no one's ever won an NBA title down 3-1 in the Finals, but I guarantee Kobe will at least make this a series before it is over.

Exactly, what has Kobe done other than game#3 performance. Lakers lucky to avoid a a sweep so
far. This was a performance for the ages and
shows why nobody should ever compare Kobe to MJ
ever again.

Nora is right. Jeez, Will. You seem exceedingly optimistic about your Lakers. Personally, I'm overjoyed to see the smirk wiped off Mr. Bryant's arrogant face but that doesn't mean he's "finally" going to take the series seriously and personally win 3 in a row.
The bed wetting comments are too Freudian for this forum but I'll go out on a limb here and guess that, in spite of a great season, Kobe will be demanding some big changes this summer.
With scrutiny on the officials, it looks like the teams will just play and the better team will win. Looks pretty good right now that the Celts will wrap it up Sunday.

The better team by far is the Celtics. The Lakers are not going to win the Championship. There are too many individual players on the Lakers to beat the Celtics who play as a team. The Lakers are pointing fingers at each other over below average performances. Then you have Kobe Bryant who has never realized that he has four teammates on the floor with him. They are now the biggest chokers in the history of the NBA. It could not have happened to a more deserving group of arrogant individuals than the Lakers.

How???
An embarrasing loss like this should put an end to the Kobe-Jordan comparison. Kobe what a choke artist!
He can now join Dirk Nowitzki as two undeserving MVP's that failed to win a title on the same year.
It must be really painful to be a Laker/Kobe fan right now. How are you Brett?

Umm you all obviously have no clue of what happens in the NBA. Last time I checked Kobe was swarmed everytime he touched the ball and even got close to the paint. The Celtis looked like the '85 Bears after halftime. This series isnt over, to all the sports fans out there, you never know what can happen. One moment Paul Pierce hits the first jump shot in game 5, 3 minutes later he falls on his knee again and tears his miniscus. move aside 2004 Red Sox, here come the lakers with the greatest comeback in NBA finals hitory, if not I credit the Celtics with a great championship

Gail, Did you type that post up on a ColecoVision?
Based on their record, the Lakers were looking at a 6 or 7 seed, and a first round exit from the playoffs before Pau Gasol showed up in a basket on their doorstep, so I have a hard time believing that Kobe deserves all the credit for them being in the finals.
Kobe isn't a leader, and his ego can't stand to play with a leader; this is why he will always wear Shaq's rings, never his own.

The arrogant rapist, smamry cockroach that he is, gets a defining moment here. He can't ever walk in the shoes of greatness of Mr. Michael Jordan. Bryant is a preening punk who should be viewing NBA tv in the dayroom of a jail somewhere.

Hey Gail, Now you know how we felt in NE after the Patriots lost the SB to the Giants and were called the biggest choke artists in the history of football. People putting up 18-1 as a failure, spitting in the face of everything they accomplished. Losing is losing, but they certainly did not choke and neither are the Lakers. Don't take things so seriously. Fans are brutal, believe me we know!!!! Go Celtics!

First of all of you obviously have no clue about the NBA cuz last time i checked MJ attempted more shots a game in his carrer then Kobe Bryant does. So how can Kobe be a ball hog??? Thats why he averaged more points, why dont u guys call MJ a ball hog? The Lakers were in first place in thier division and the 2nd seed before Andrew Bynum got hurt aight Black Death, make sure you back up your comments with facts. You call Gasol a gift in a basket, hmm i wonder what KG and Ray allen are???

LA has a good solid team the starting 5 plus Turiaf and Ariza;
Farmar and the other bunch got to go!
LA can not keep the starting 5 from beginning to end no team does!
In fact when they play the starting 5 as far as they go they never have been behind
only when Phil makes changes they felt apart!
LA does not have a deep bench in fact they do not have a decent bench, period.

John Wooden once said, "Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there." The Celtics are up 3-1 because they are the better team. They are the better team because they have talent AND CHARACTER. Kobe should heed Wooden's words. Meanwhile, I think there is a very good chance the Celtics will take it in five. Why? Character.

adrian, The Gasol trade was made on Feb 1, as of the end of Jan, the Suns were first in the division with 33 wins, and the lakers and utah were tied for 5-6 in the conference with 28 wins.
I guess I was wrong, they were looking at a 5-6 seed and a first round exit, and not a 6-7 seed and a first round exit.
And the Allen and KG trades were legit, Boston actually gave away players with skill and talent, along with valuable draft picks. The Gasol trade was a joke, the Lakers gave away garbage and got a young all star. A number of people actually called for an investigation into the trade because it reaked of corruption.
You laker fans are so easy to argue with, you're all so blind to the rest of the league. my advice, learn to keep your mouths shut.

Gasol was signed until 2009 and free agency coming 2010 if Boston gets Gasol by then be certain that Boston will get another 3 or rings NOT LA !
