Crystal Ballin' takes a team-by-team look at what should, could, and probably will happen in the June 26th NBA Draft. The Suns were arguably the biggest disappointment of the post-season, when you consider the fact that the blockbuster deal for Shaquille O'Neal resulted in just five first round playoff games. With a new coach and rumors of more roster shake-ups, this is a team in search of an identity.
Picks: #15, #48.
Needs: A general manager whose intent isn't to destroy the team. Ohhhh, on the court needs. Right. A backup point guard to run the team when Nash is on the sidelines, and believe it or not, one more big to back up Shaq and Amare.
Best case scenario: That Roy Hibbert or Chris Douglas-Roberts would drop into their lap. Either of those guys would likely crack the rotation immediately.
More likely scenario: Lots of trade rumors saying that the Suns want a higher pick and an additional pick or two to complete that roster shake-up. I think it's likely they'll move up from the 15 spot.
Please don't take: Marreese Speights. Too young to help right away, and conditioning looks to be an issue at this stage in the youngster's career. Getting dieting tips from Shaq won't help.
Trade possibilities: Leandro Barbosa and Boris Diaw are said to both be on the block, so I'd say some team will happily bite at the trade bait of at least one of the two. Barbosa is more likely to get dealt than Diaw I think, but Steve Kerr seems intent on continuing to make wholesale changes, so I wouldn't be surprised to see both players dealt before the draft.

Is it just me, or have 2/3 of the Crystal Ballin blurbs mentioned CDR?

WWD: you might be right about that. CDR is obviously the fans' choice right now to make a big impact in the NBA. Most mocks have him going far lower than the Suns' pick at 15 though.

Brandon Rush would be a very good pick for them as well at 15. They either need a shooter or a big man.

Steve Kerr was a great reserve player(Bulls and Spurs) and one of if not the best three point shooter ever. Just goes to show though that being a good player doesn't mean you can run a team.
