Penn State just got a commitment from an unranked wide receiver who plays running back for his high school team. PSU fans are naturally a little wary, especially given their struggles recruiting skill position talent of late, and this didn't help: "I liked the coaches, and I think it's an up-and coming program," he said, adding that "I really do believe better days for Penn State are coming."...and we've all mentally inserted "when JoePa finally retires," haven't we? Kuntz also had this beauty:
"My dad and I searched the internet looking at UConn and Penn State's rosters and where they are in terms of depth at wide receiver. Penn State doesn't look like they have much (coming back) and me coming in as a freshman that's going to be a huge advantage for me to hopefully play four years for them."When you're considering UConn and Penn State and you pick Penn State for playing time, the Pennsylvania apocalypse is nigh. It was nice knowing you, Pennsylvania. Except Philadelphia.
Also, yes: hur hur hur he's got a funny last name. Have we mentioned Michigan picked up a commitment from Shavodrick Beaver? If this was Idiocracy, we would all be laughing so hard we would die.

Wow, this guy apparently knows nothing about Penn State or recruiting. Considering Kuntz is still in highschool and NOT in college yet and he thought his name might be funny. Well just like he can't write a decent blog he can't pronounce words well either.
If the guy knew anything about football he would see all three of our STARTERS are graduating this year, thus leaving Penn State with 7 receivers (not including the tight ends) so yes, that leaves the wide receiver job pretty open for someone coming into the program.
This guy is probably just another stuck up Michigan fan trying to hate. Well buddy, if you'r egoing to do get the facts straight and know what the heck you're writing about.

Jeeez Brandon, someone has a sandy vagina, no? The author makes a valid point that PSU should be aiming higher than unranked, UConn-chased WRs. You are proving his point by noting the exodus of PSU WRs after this year: Penn St can and should have done better.

Goddamn I wish that electricity and interwebs would hurry up and get to Big XII country...all this college football bloggin's comin' from the ESS EEE CEE and the cerebral locales of the Big Ten.
If only I could read, maybe I'd start my own WEB LOG focusing on college football.
Someday, sir. Someday. Until then, I will continue dictating all my comments to my manservant Standish.

That's the author's day job. Read it for a few days, you'll find he knows a shit-ton about recruiting.
Are you new to the interwebs or is "Brandon" a nickname for "Jay Paterno"?

I think you are missing the point Brandon. A battle between Penn St. and UConn should NEVER come down to depth chart. That alone shows how far PSU has fallen.

MH, sandy vagina, no. Hating on people who write about a sport and don't know what they talk about, yes.
Granted, getting highly ranked recruits is important however, these 4 or 5 five star recruits aren't anything with out the right coaching, training, and mentoring.
For instance, look at Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Ohio State. They always have great recruiting classes on both sides of the ball but always seem to choke when it counts, the bowl game. Granted Penn State doesn't always get the best bowl games but we have a pretty good track record, the last three of which we won. Yea, we may have got blown out by Ohio State last year, but that was are only blow out. Even in the dark days of the early 2000s our games were always close, win or lose.
Just as an example for not recruiting as high as some. Look at Deon Butler, a walk on. Josh Hull, another walk on. Micheal Robinson a two star when recruited. The first two are walk ons and as you know Robinson won the Orange Bowl his senior season and was 4 seconds away from a National Championship game.

Wait, so your argument is that it's okay that you don't get 4-5 stars because they don't get coached up anyway, since you have those walkons and 2 stars that succeed? Um, yeah... Any program that relies on 2 stars and walkons to star for their team is not going to be very good. I, along with everyone else with more than half a brain, would expect Penn State to be competing for talent against the like of Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, etc, and not settling for a kid whose best offer (aside from PSU) was UConn (also offered by Akron and Buffalo). Maybe they got a real diamond in the rough. Or maybe they need reconsider their recruiting strategies if they're serious about competing at an elite level.

Hey Petey the Jayhawk,
Ask me why I would waste my time reading a Michigan site? Seriously let's be real here. He MAY know his recruiting however, I am talking about the crap article and lack of knowledge he posted posted here.
So I'll add another question, how the hell is Philly good? When's the last time they won a championship in any sport?
And who cares if he picks Penn State over UConn for playing time? As long as we're hear we should make fun of all the recruits Rutgers has...boy what crappy football program (sarcasm).....btw Schiano is a Penn State grad.
Don't insult me for calling me Jay, we all know he sucks. The sad part is he probably won't leave the program even if JoePa isn't back next year. JoePa would probably have to die before that happens.

Brandon,
I can't even begin to tell you how stupid you sound so lets start from the beginning. First this guy writes one of the top 5 college football blogs on the internet and if any buddy knows what there talking about its him. Second your gonna compare Penn State's bowl games to OSU and Oklahomas? That is laughable. OSU and Okalahoma play teams that are so much better then the teams PSU plays. Don't compare LSU and A&M or whoever it was PSU played in there no name bowl this year. And finally we WILL make fun of him picking PSU over UConn simply for playing time. PSU's football program should be on a level so much higher then UConn's and sadly there not.

RE: OSU
If by "always," you mean, "the last two years." Tressel had won four bowls in a row (including three BCS games) before back-to-back losses in the frigging National Championship game.
And this guy is talking about other people not knowing what they're talking about...

Brandon,
The numbers speak for themselves. PSU has been in decline, except for a blip in 2005, for the last 10 years. ND is an odd case because they have a poor coach, but OU and OSU have both played for national titles in recent memory with their 4 and 5 star talent. Other than you, I'd bet any PSU fan would trade for OSU's W-L record in the last decade!
And as for knocking on Brian Cook, he is one of the best sportswriters-blog or mainstream-on the Internet today. You, sir, are out of order.
