The Dalonte Hill Factor in Michael Beasley's Decision

Who, you ask is Dalonte Hill? Getty Images doesn't have a photo of him, but he's more important than Bob Huggins in the impending What Will Michael Beasley Do? drama.

Here's why: Hill and Beasley are buddies. So close, than when Hill was an assistant coach at Charlotte, he got Beasley to committ to school there. Next thing you know ... Huggins magically adds unproven Hill to his coaching staff at Kansas State. You know the rest - Beasley followed Hill to Manhattan.

How about this scenario: Kansas State, not wanting to lose arguably the best recruit in school history, throws big money at Hill and offers him the job as head coach. Let's say that number is $500,000. Would Huggins be able to talk West Virginia into matching that figure? I can't imagine it, not when football coaches in the Big East aren't making that kind of money. And even if WVU can match it (or come close), would Hill want to be the boss, or second fiddle?

So ultimately, this is on Kansas State. Are the Wildcats willing to hand the reigns of the program to a untested 28-year-old just because he can help retain the the MVP of the McDonald's All-American game? Beasley plus talented Bill Walker (OJ Mayo's old teammate) is probably good enough to get this team 20 wins or more next season. Without Beasley, 15 wins would be a stretch.

So Kansas State, what's it going to be? Either way, this will not end well. The fans will grow angry and bitter if Beasley walks; the media and rest of the Big 12 will slaughter K-State for giving Hill the job.
